If you’re a skateboarder, this is a heavy day for you. If you’re not s skateboarder, this is a heavy day for me. In 1994, I went to @yskatecamp and it changed my life. I was just getting back into skateboarding and was fully immersed in the culture. I had my Canon and I tried to get as many pictures of pros as I could. I did not know who @marcjohnson was at the time nor did I know he was beginning his monumental rise to fame in my hometown. He did this heelflip Indy grab every time, allowing me to capture a good shot. Out of any old pro parts that I decide to rewatch, I’ve had to watch Marc’s parts more than any other pro. He’s one of the best to ever step on a board and one of the best skaters to step off the board. A true visionary, a true skate rat, this is a hard loss for the community.
