Last week we finished a 9 day workshop firing of our anagama kiln jointly lead by @harrison_lev and @asartoriusceramics for a great group from @gasworksnyc . There was dancing, hard work, big stokes, and plenty of yummy kiln side treats. The kiln is cooling this week as we all wait patiently. Thanks for all the hard work team we can’t wait to see these pots! #contemporaryceramics #contemporaryclay #anagama #firing #hudsonvalleyartist by @tigtucker

Join us for our Maker’s Mark workshop with our very own Tig Tucker! This workshop will take place on Saturday, Feb 21st, 1-3:30 pm.

Having a maker’s mark is not only important for identifying your work, but is also a tradition that goes back thousands of years. In this workshop, students will make a variety of stamps, leaving with at least one personal makers mark. We will be looking at a range of historical and contemporary makers marks to get inspiration, as well as ceramics work that incorporates stamping and mark making into the surface design.

Wood fired cups from @theokidokistudio. I had the bright idea to bring my squeezey bottles upstate to do some designs with the shinos and celadon they have there and was really pleased with how these came out by @tigtucker

It’s a little dream parade, a tower made of all sorts of shapes and objects ✨🌸🟡

From the woodfiring, unglazed. I used about five different clays to make the shapes in the hope that each one would do a different thing. by @tigtucker

After plenty of wood firings I think this is the piece that finally made me realize how much the clay body contributes to the success of the final product. I can get 100 horrible pieces out of a firing and still stubbornly use that same clay body, apparently, but getting this one back and seeing how gorgeous the surface can be has maybe permanently altered my brain chemistry. This has a liner glaze, but other than that there’s nothing on the cup! That’s just clay and ash, baby. Clay. And. Ash. by @tigtucker
