Koreans have a word for this - Inyeon. The idea that the people you meet aren’t random, even if it starts that way. Korea has been kind to me. Even before I landed, I had texted Gu, @tiid0928 someone I’d known only through Instagram for years. Never met, barely knew how to pronounce his name, but somehow he was always just “bro.” And then I got there, and it all made sense. Despite a packed schedule, he took time off work just to host me in Seoul. Limited English, a lot of broken sentences, but none of it mattered. He showed up in every way that counts. That “bro” wasn’t just a word, he really became my Korean brother. Then there was Sophia. @163.m A random DM sent mid-flight from New Delhi , just me doing what I usually do, reaching out to creators in a new city. Her profile felt very direct at first. Straightforward, no fluff. Couldn’t really figure her out from that. But the moment she showed up and said, “Hi Rameez,” everything shifted. She checked in on me every single day. Made time, showed up, made sure I wasn’t navigating the city alone. Took me around Seoul, showed me her version of it. Quietly consistent, genuinely kind. And yeah… she’s a great model too, I’ll admit. Expressions, presence, she just gets it. She took me to Sulbing, apparently pronounced “Surbing” , easily one of the best bingsu spots in the city. Towards the end, she handed me a small gift and a handwritten card. Simple things, but they stay with you. And to everyone else I met along the way, it all felt connected somehow. Didn’t plan much for Korea. But it never really felt random. Maybe that’s what they mean by inyeon. Korea has my heart 🫰🏽 taken in Seoul, South Korea by @tiid0928
