🎬 If you’ve seen the latest Mission Impossible, you know it’s a wild ride from start to finish! And that’s exactly what the last day of the mosaic workshop feels like. It’s the final moment to sync everything and complete the mission in eight hours.

The first stage is peeling the mosaic face off the foil using a flat spatula or knife. It’s not quite as nerve-wracking as Tom Cruise jumping from one biplane to another, but the pressure is definitely on. Next, the face is glued onto a wooden frame. After attaching the hair made from stained glass, it’s time for the best part: pouring the liquid cement.

The pouring itself goes fairly quickly, but getting the right color is a whole other story.

Once the background is filled with a vividly red-tinted liquid cement, I nod subtly in satisfaction—just like Tom Cruise at the end of The Final Reckoning.

I board the train with my own handmade mosaic in hand 💪🙏

🎬Kto widział ostatni Mission Impossible, ten wie, że dużo się tam dzieje. I taki właśnie też jest ostatni dzień warsztatów mozaikowych. To ostatni moment, aby zgrać wszystko i w osiem godzin wykonać misję.

Pierwszym etapem jest odklejenie mozaikowej twarzy z folii za pomocą płaskiej szpatułki bądź noża. Nie jest tak nerwowo, jak gdy Tom Cruise przeskakuje z jednego dwupłatowca na drugi, ale ciśnienie się podnosi. Następnie twarz zostaje przyklejona do drewnianej ramki. Po doklejeniu włosów ze szkła witrażowego czas na najlepsze: wylanie płynnego cementu. Samo wylewanie dzieje się dość szybko, ale uzyskanie odpowiedniego koloru to już dłuższa historia.

Po uzupełnieniu tła płynnym cementem w intensywnie czerwonym odcieniu, subtelnie kiwam głową z zadowoleniem niczym Tom Cruise na końcu The Final Reckoning.

Do pociągu wsiadam już z własnoręcznie wykonaną mozaiką 💪🙏

I honestly never think about how much time it takes me to create something new. I guess that’s what happens when you make something you truly love.

From working with raw clay, through glazing, firing, and grouting — every stage of this journey requires an idea, patience, time, and a certain amount of knowledge. And all the spontaneous things that happen along the way definitely deserve a separate post.

I’m so excited to share that a small collection of unique, handmade mini mosaics inspired by Frida Kahlo has been created in my studio.

Kompletnie nie patrzę na to, ile czasu zajmuje mi stworzenie czegoś nowego. To chyba tak jest, kiedy robi się coś, co naprawdę się lubi. Is it just me, or do the big stores and I both sense autumn coming? Well, well, but that’s no cause for worry.

I am happy to announce that the kiln gods were kind. A little collection of mini Fridas made it through — now awaiting their final transformation.

Czy tylko ja i duże sklepy wyczuwamy, że nadchodzi jesień? Nie, nie tym bynajmniej się nie martwimy.

What did I manage to squeeze in this weekend? Besides hosting a party for 14 people for a demanding 6-year-old, I also found time for a few shots of painting mini Frida portraits
.
The kiln is slowly filling up for the firing.
I think I’m halfway there. Now just hoping the second half won’t take forever.

Co udało mi się upchnąć w ten weekend? Poza zorganizowaniem imprezy dla 14 osób dla wymagającej 6-latki, znalazłam też czas na kilka ujęć z malowania miniportretów Fridy, a Paczczak wyrwał się na spacer.

Piec powoli zapełnia się, i czuję, że jestem na półmetku. Oby tylko ta druga część poszła równie szybko.

Experiencing a spectacularly inconvenient creative slowdown… because apparently my ideas needed a vacation too.

The creative wheels are turning… slowly, but they’re turning. A Frida-inspired collection is growing: tiny ceramic Fridas for your walls, little jewelry shrines, and plant stakes.

I’ll share them as soon as they come out of the kiln.

Stawiam czoło sporemu spowolnieniu w moich kreatywnych poczynaniach. Mimo wszystko, nie poddaję się bez walki.

W międzyczasie powstało kilka miniaturowych ceramicznych Frid, biżuteryjnych ołtarzyków i ozdób dla roślin. Podzielę się jak tylko wyjdą z pieca.

I love being pleasantly surprised when the background work goes smoothly and quickly. It honestly feels like winning the lottery.

This mosaic combines two mosaic techniques: hand-cut elements shaped from a slab of clay and cuts from ready-made ceramic tiles.
Soon it will be completed with the only grout I truly respect—black.

And with that, I’m happy to announce that I’m open for commissions. If you’re thinking of something completely unconventional, let me know. Just bring the idea—I’ll take care of the rest.

Lubię się miło zaskoczyć, kiedy tworzenie tła idzie szybko i sprawnie. To właściwie jak wygrana na loterii.

Ta mozaika stanowi połączenie dwóch mozaikowych technik: elementów wycinanych z płata gliny oraz cięcia gotowych ceramicznych płytek. Całość niedługo dopełni jedyna respektowana przeze mnie fuga – ta w kolorze czarnym.

Tym samym z przyjemnością informuję, że przyjmuję zamówienia. Jeśli myślisz o czymś zupełnie niestandardowym, daj znać. Wystarczy pomysł, a ja wykonam resztę. Cudownej niedzieli!
