My Mom

There’s a funny Hindi quote that says “God couldn’t be everywhere so He created mothers”. It alludes to the fact that mothers are an extension of God’s Hands and Feet. My mom was surely one. She loved so deeply and so warmly.

She was my rock. She made life easy. She was my first friend, my best friend and my forever friend. She led me and set me on the course to life. My mom was always there. Always ready to cheer me on. Always ready to set me straight. Always ready to pull me up.

My mom’s death ripped my heart apart but I am so comforted by the beautiful life she lived and the beauty that she is. She is a stunning woman. The beauty of the most precious stones do not compare to my mother’s eyes. The grace of the rising sun does not compare to her smile.

Dear Mommy,
I miss you everyday. Yours is the purest form of love i have ever known. You are my heart. I love you so much. I can’t wait to see you again🤍🕊️ by @tileyemi_

Maami,

If I had a platform with a million people watching, one of the many things I want to do is tell the world a story of the strongest woman I ever met.

First I’ll let them know how even though everyone says their mother is the best, the truth is that MY OLUFUNMILOLA is the actual best.

I’ll tell them of my earliest memories of you - walking round the Lagos island market, my hand in hers, looking for perfect clothes for me, the days I had malaria and we managed Iya Junior’s injections, I’ll tell them of the prize-giving days at school looking at you holding all my awards beaming with the most beautiful smile.

I’ll tell them that you are a warrior and a victor - the fiercest and the toughest. I’ll tell them that you are a giver and a lover - that no one stays the same after meeting with you.

I’ll tell them that you are the most beautiful woman I know - that your beauty still amazes me every single time. I’ll tell them that you are the most considerate and peace-loving woman I know- that your love for fairness and justice has inspired me to be who I now am.

I’ll tell them of your presence - that wherever you are is a beautiful place to be. I’ll tell them of your resilience- that though you’ve had to face some battles you always come out of it a victor.

I’ll tell them of your heart for me - that the greatest love I’ve received on earth is yours. Forever strong. Forever patient.

I’ll tell them that you’re a Queen.
A beaming light.
God’s own child.
My Mother.

Happy 60th Birthday Maami.
I’ll love you for ever and a day. taken in 60th Birthday by @tileyemi_
