I can’t believe my Bunting is finally finished, and it only took 10 months .
I’m sharing a few process shots 🥯 and a very special audio snippet at the end.

The line-up

I wanted it to be very colorful, like a proper celebration of Buns!

Forgive the pun but the law color pencils are like butter on buns.

Accidentally recorded my studio companions and me rambling on about our projects.

A little fact I learnt recently is that the word ‘Companion’ comes from ‘com’ meaning with and ‘pan’ meaning bread. Put together, someone you share bread/a meal with.
Not only is this work a celebration of bread but it is also leavened with conversations and shared meals with friends. by @tilikadsouza

I’ve been sitting on this coral chart design for months and am happy to see it finally finished and printed.
These corals are fragments from my bigger reef paintings from 2023.
Send me a dm if you’d like to have one of these, limited number available!

Gentle reminder 💙 by @tilikadsouza

My friend and I designed these gorgeous ceramic platters together as a very special wedding gift for her friend. She further commissioned me to make them last month.
It’s called ‘The Memory Collection’. Each plate is engraved underneath with a date that represents the different events throughout the wedding week. This collection is also created with the idea of growth and evolution, like a marriage, pieces will be added every year to represent an anniversary.
Definitely one of my favorite projects till date!

Sponges & stars & sea slugs, oh my ! - everything I spotted on a guided shore walk at Napean Sea road, Mumbai.

I’m definitely better at drawing and will leave the photography to the experts like @gordon.t.smith who sent me his brilliant orange phidiana militaris shot, but here are all sea slugs from the video:
1. Bornella Stellifer ( starry mouthed nudibranch)
2. Atagema Osseosa
3. Trapania Japonica
4. Phidiana Militaris

If only I could actually fold zines this fast ! by @tilikadsouza

They’re almost ready!

I’m absolutely obsessed with how printing in Riso has added its own nuances to my zine.
I had to share a few zoomed in images for everyone to appreciate the imperfections and textures, so you can replace a couple ai images from the internet off your brain.

Thank you @fullspecialstudio for helping me print these.

Shout out to @m39.ae for adopting me so I can give life to my passion projects ❤️

The slug that inspired this color:

The camera does not to justice for this orange.

I went on my first shore walk in Mumbai last month with @marinelifeofmumbai and was blown away by the cool critters and treasures the tide brought in !
Luckily I draw better than I photograph so here’s the (almost) finished zine documenting the morning.
Thank you to @pradippatade @sharandthesea and all the wonderful volunteers who were genuinely so excited to share info and expertise.

I’m still to add location details and a little poem my husband wrote onto it.

Tidal Treasures- Napean Sea Road, Mumbai. Completed as part of my @studiothirteen_dxb residency with @alserkalartsfoundation by @tilikadsouza

I couldn’t help myself… there were just too many good art options this weekend, so I went back for more.
Today I joined a session with artist Tilika D’Souza, who shared her process of making watercolours and using them in her work, and it felt like the perfect way to reinforce everything I learned yesterday while adding new layers to it. I walked in as a bit of a blank slate, and I can feel my world expanding with each demo, conversation, and little “aha” moment.
It’s wild how the universe opens up once you start saying yes to the things you love. We spent the afternoon happily geeking out over pigments, paper, and process, and I left feeling so energized by this little art-nerd community.
After that, the gallery hosted a Q&A with artists who are building art spaces and workshops for both kids and adults here in Dubai, and I listened while working in my sketchbook, thinking about my own daily practice and where it might lead. My hands were moving, my mind was buzzing, and it just felt like time well spent. @tilikadsouza @studiothirteen_dxb by @tilikadsouza

Been wanting to make this zine since I went for the most beautiful shore walk one morning in Mumbai. It’s my very first zine so I’m cheating a little by sketching it out on procreate instead of fully hand doing it (or so I’ve been told my @fink.22 😂 )

Will be finishing it at the @studiothirteen_dxb residency with Blank Space at Alserkal Avenue. Come pop by if you’d like to see it! by @tilikadsouza

Inchcape 1 is on sale at www.syla.ae

This is a very special piece to me and it literally encapsulates what I love about the U.A.E.
It’s iron rich mountains, vibrant corals, busy souqs and and its phenomenal art community.
All the colors of this painting come from pigments foraged within the country. Ochres and reds from the mountains, indigo blue from the spice souqs and my own homemade verdigris.

There’s no better time than now to support your local artists. I and 40+ of my artsy fartsy friends are on www.SYLA.ae each selling one very special work of art.

Thank you @studiothirteen_dxb @rababtantawy for being the coolest of cool with this initiative!
