Feeling grateful to share my first cover for The New Yorker today.

While my work often focuses on conceptual images and visual puns, an atmospheric drawing felt more suitable for this subject and moment.

Visually, I was interested in transforming the meaning of this most iconic and innocent motif of an LA sunset by a subtle shift in the background’s color gradation. After all, it’s our treatment of the environment that holds the power to change places of desire into hellscapes just like that.

Thinking about making this drawing a print edition to raise some money for people and responders on the ground, who would buy one?

From my desk to the Federal Palace 🤯

I created this key visual and animation for a campaign by @greenpeace on Switzerland‘s nuclear energy debate and its dependence on Russian uranium.

It first ran across major Swiss railway stations earlier this month, as parliament was set to reverse a former moratorium on new nuclear plants.

Little did I know activists would end up projecting the artwork onto the Federal Palace ahead of the parliamentary vote 😗

So this happened?! I received a gold cube and a silver cube for my @newyorkermag covers at the @artdirectorsclub awards last night. This week, Switzerland votes on yet another xenophobic initiative, this time with the pointless and economically disastrous goal of capping the population at 10 million.

As usual, the far right’s wealthy strategists are blaming foreigners, especially refugees and asylum seekers, for every major problem, from the housing crisis to the environment, while consistently sabotaging any real attempt to address these issues in parliament.

That said, I was grateful to illustrate this incisive report for the @newyorkermag . It was as entertaining as it was painful to read such a clear-eyed observation of my home country. Thank you @steph4rent @newyorkerart for trusting me with this topic.

I encourage everyone in Switzerland to go out and vote against this nonsense.
