I always wanted to catch an Awacs, and I always wanted to catch a sun crossing...
Never did I dare to dream to catch both in one picture.

This is one of those shots that happen completely unexpected. In one moment I'm watching the sunset at Geilenkirchen, happy that I got an Awacs landing after 12 hours, in the next I see the Awacs making a touch and go, fly towards the sun and just hit the shutter.

This definitely is my favorite shot of my whole Summer trip 24, and I hope you enjoy it too.

So, in short, here's LX-N90453 crossing the sun on a hot summer evening at Geilenkirchen Air Base in July 2024.

Beautiful @british_airways 787-8 rocketing out of runway 10 at Zürich Airport in the last light of the day...

A Blue Island ATR 72-500 is trying to hide in a ocean of flowers while taking off from Bern Airport. It took its passengers on a quick hop to Basel before continuing to the channel islands.

Unfortunately, this shot can already be labeled as a blast from the past, as Blue Island ceased operations in November 2025. Their beautiful colored ATRs surely will be missed.

There's still the chance to fly to Jersey and Guersney from Bern in 2026 tho. Today, the flights are being operated by Universal Air with their Dash-8.

A beautiful Qatar Airways A330 is rocketing out of Warsaw Chopin airport. Wait shouldn't it be Oman Air?
Well even tho this A330 (A7-ACU) still wears the livery of its former owner Oman Air, it already operated under its new owner Qatar Airways in Summer 2025. The times of the beautiful Oman Air livery are gone these days tho, as the aircraft was repainted into the equally beautiful Qatar Airways livery just a few weeks after this shot.

The winter season 2025/2026 came to an end those days. Besides the bad weather, I always enjoy the winter times at our swiss airports as there are always awesome opportunities for nice pictures and catches.

This particular shot was made at one of my favorite airports in winter times, Samedan. A Falcon 7X (OO-AIE) is rocketing out of runway 03 in the last light of the day. I have to admit tho that this particular shot was made in December 2024.

HB-JMF is just starting its journey into the night towards Cape Town.

Today, HB-JMF went on its last journey. Flying from Zurich to Enschede for dismantling. It's the second Edelweiss A340 that leaves Zurich forever and therefore leaves us with only 3 Edelweiss A340s left.

Thanks for all the great photo opportunities HB-JMF. You will be missed.

2025...what an incredible year that was.
Filled with unforgettable memories and amazing moments. I've spotted at 27 airports in 10 different countries, spent hours and hours at airports and was able to cross some things out of my bucket list.
No matter the ups and downs that surely everyone has during a year, I'm incredibly happy with how everything went.

The biggest thank you is dedicated to everyone that made this year to what it was. No matter if we spent hours at the fence together or we just texted from time to time. It was a pleasure to spend 2025 with you!

And now...ready to take-off into 2026?

The royal queen arrives! 🇲🇦

As the Winter season 2025/26 is starting, I decided to share one of my favorite visitors of the 24/25 season today.

Just before christmas 2024, Geneva got treated with the visit of the beautiful Maroc Government 747-8 BBJ. CN-MBH arrived on a beautiful Saturday noon and left just hours later, never returning to GVA ever since.

A new resident arrived in town...
Yesterday, we welcomed the new Swiss flagship, the A350-900, at Zurich Airport.

The very first LX A350 wears the so-called "Wanderlust" livery showcasing famous regions/towns in Switzerland.

What an absolute dream to finally catch this beautiful aircraft together with hundreds of others... It was a pleasure to see everyone!

Summer Recap Episode 1 - Austria 🇦🇹
What a start into my Summer trip that was...
To kick off my unforgettable journey, I drove all the way through Austria, visiting Innsbruck and Vienna.

Even tho I had some bad luck with the traffic in Innsbruck, the small airport proved to me why I have to come back in Winter.

Vienna awaited me with some more success. Nice contrast shots in the morning, the chance to finally catch the AUA 767, interesting traffic, and don't even get me started about the beauty of this city.

One of my personal highlights of the recent WCSP conference in Geneva.

The Chinese GOV sent us an Air China 747-400 to fly their delegation in and out.
There are only 2 Air China 747-400 PAX left and I never thought I would be able to catch one.

An international conference like this is always an awesome time. Not only because of the exotic planes, but also because of all the great people you meet.
It was a pleasure to see everyone!
