Student Work #014: Bobble ECO – Ein nachhaltiges Dashboard für urbane Sharing-Mobilität

A concept city car born from the desire to finally merge my passion for design with my lifelong fascination for automobiles. 🚗

Created as a personal project, Bobble pushed me to dive deep into urban micro-mobility and truly understand the visual and functional anatomy of lightweight EVs.

Developing this concept to relieve city infrastructure taught me how demanding automotive design can be when you aim for maximum efficiency. Taking iterative analog sketches and refining the vehicle’s proportions via paths and anchor points in Illustrator was just the beginning. Translating that into a 3D polygonal model in Blender, while stripping the form language down to aerodynamic, radical minimalism, was incredibly tough - and it showed me just how much discipline a user-centric design requires. From the first sketch to the final atmospheric material and lighting studies in KeyShot and Gemini, managing the symbiosis of sustainability and technical innovation was a massive learning curve.

Still proud of the creative foundation this built for my approach to mobility. Swipe to see the prototype come to life. 👉

Throwback #3 (Can't help it, digging through the archives right now)-

two posters born from the idea that absolute precision doesn’t need a camera, just paths and anchor points.

Created during my 2nd semester in the Graphic Studio module, this project pushed me to dive deep into Adobe Illustrator and truly understand the visual anatomy of objects.

Reconstructing the NUX Loop Core Sampler and a high-contrast B&W steel staple gun taught me how demanding vector art can be when you aim for reality. Achieving photorealistic color gradients and smooth metallic reflections without a single pixel was incredibly tough – and it showed me just how much a program can test your patience. From the first anchor point to the final 1:1 prints, managing those complex details was a massive learning curve.

Still proud of the technical foundation this built for me. Swipe to see them in their natural habitat. 👉

Student Work #012: ONDA

Introducing ONDA - a coffee table born from the idea that stability comes from form, not mass.

Designed and built during my 3rd semester in Materials-Based Design, this project pushed me to think beyond the sketch and truly understand the relationship between material, form, and manufacturing.

Working with 3mm aluminium taught me how much a material can resist your intentions - and how much you learn when it pushes back. From CAD model to 1:1 cardboard prototype to the real object, every step came with its own set of surprises.

Proud of what came out of it.

Another second-semester project:

My first real dive into hands-on making - woodturning, laser cutting, finishing, and designing a moving mechanism. Much of it was completely new to me at the time - and that’s exactly why I enjoyed it so much.

Looking back, it’s one of the projects that confirmed for me that product design is exactly the path I want to pursue. Pictures taken by: @quirin.hldr

throwback to 2nd semester project –

Reconstructed the FAZ Wood Chair from @vondomslu (designed by @ramon_esteve) in Fusion 360. No existing files, just references and a lot of trial and error. The goal wasn’t just to copy the shape, but to actually understand the geometry behind it.

Printed on a @bambulab_official using PLA. Definitely not a “hit print and done” kind of project – more like constant iteration, adjusting, and reworking. The edges and transitions really expose whether your modeling is clean or not.

It’s not perfect, but that’s the point. Better to build, test, and improve than sit on ideas. by @tillhoffmann.objects
