@abibradley16 doesn’t like me in Lycra, so 2027 reintroduces the use of my own two feet to move through the mountains of Eryri and beyond.
The return to SDW100 will have to wait for a different year. The Mountains are calling.
Maybe I need to book a winter training camp @coggiola.endurance to search for my running legs again.

Road to La Ruta - Wet and wild ride in The Peak District. I definitely underestimated how difficult the riding is here, especially when wet. My nose is always good at picking the gnarliest route choices. The last 15km were grinding my way through rivers and rock, sideways rain, feeling colder than the depths of hell. If hell was made of ice and not fire. #mountainbiking #peakdistrict #timetofly #laruta taken in Peak District by @tim.to.fly

Road to La Ruta - Altea Hills training camp. 250miles rode, 30,000ft of climbing, over some seriously spectacular and wild Mtb trails. All in 35degree heat. ❤️🔥🥵😮‍💨
Thank you to Matthew Mills for the base camp and the company.

The road to @racelaruta in Costa Rica has begun. 4months to get as bike fit as possible so I can get through 300km of the most brutal tropical terrain over 3days.
A nice social ride with @__lynden__dighton__ round the lake in the morning and a FTP test to see where I’m at in the afternoon.

Thanks to @centurionrunning for some more great pics.
The first one sums up the sheer relief of knowing the race had been run. Pic 4, @lifeinthetraillane getting me through, Pic 5, @ultrabritton immediately cheering me up.
SDW100 2027, I am coming for you and I will be harder,better,faster,stronger.

I’ve had some tough races before but this might have just surpassed all of them. I had some high hopes for SDW100 2026 but this sport does not give a shit about your hopes. 😅 Quads and legs in general said no around 10miles in. I thought there was no way I could run another 90miles on them. It was a gritty, painful grind the entire day. I will be back.
