The 4AD Session...A live EP by @ohdaughter released back in May 2014....The session features reworked, classical arrangements of five tracks from their 2013 debut album, If You Leave. They are beautiful.

The band collaborated a 10-piece classical ensemble to bring these to life. They are really special.

Not sure why I hadn't posted this one yet. :)
Trying to get better at 'Just being' not making lists or having things to do. It's more difficult than you might think. :D

The beautiful new album from @chelseawolfeofficial released September 18th...

This is a solid contender for AOTY for me. You can listen to this one end to end and each track more than deserves your time and attention. It's flawless.

Cold, Seethe, Halo, The Dark, Death is not the end are my favourites so far. But honestly I think this might be my favourite album of hers to date... Let's be honest the bar is very high..

Really loving this one and can't recommend it enough.

New @emmaruthrundle ...🖤...It's been a long five years. (Obviously live at roadburn following Engines of Hell in 2023..)

#thesekillingtimes is just beautiful...Powerless, God's picture and Enough are all flawless...But you still had Human Kindness Anvil and Catherine Wheel (Which is potentially my favourite track)

Focusing primarily on collaboration as a remedy to the loneliness people experience in the modern world. It could not have come at a more appropriate moment.

The colabd all land but Baroness’ Gina Gleason on Catherine Wheel is serving up so much 90s grunge I felt palpable nostalgia. ;)

Emma Ruth Rundle has been my favourite artist since I discovered her through one of Robert Smiths curated gigs..I feel very fortunate to have found an artist that speaks to me in this way. I hope you all find yours.

Waited six years for this one. I've listened to the whole thing three times today already.

There's a lot to unpack.

I feel like everyone is more or less in agreement that this is a significant piece of work. My impression is every song, arrangement and lyric has been thought through and rethought countless times in the last six years. It feels like a body of work that has had a significant amount of time, care and attention poured into it. The sheer scope of it, and the subject matter it covers..It must have been exhausting.

I have a lot of time for work that is just raw and delivered as it was conceived, but equally you don't use words like achievement or undertaking to describe them.

I feel like my favourite tracks will shift as I spend more time with it. 'As Above' I think stands out immediately..But lyrically parts of 'Bobby' and 'Still Standing' really resonate. The way 'Kill me' builds to 3:30 and whatever that is, it just lands. Im a bit in love with the whole thing..

Very grateful to have more of her music.

The beautiful 'Lost in rush of emptiness' by @bleach.lab released back in 2023 and 2025 EP 'Close to the Flame'...Both very much worth your time.

They released a cover of the Cardigans 'My favourite game' in February...Also great....

Last week was spent incapacitated...Again... Damaged my spine in a bike accident and I get these flare ups ..Third in two years...Fun fact...I will crawl to the bathroom..out of necessity ..Which is fair. Turns out I will also forget my dignity to get to the coffee machine... Literally sobbing on my hands and knees for an espresso...Good to know my relationship with caffeine is 100% healthy..I should probably get better at asking for help.

Also I think I incapacitate myself with such regularity I think folks are a bit over it. Which is fair.

Anyway...Back to the living.

Morning....Having a QOTSA weekend.

Although this 2000 release is officially titled Rated R, other vinyl editions feature the red X sleeve and are branded Rated X instead. (See the inlay..👀)

I guess a visual play on film certification and censorship?

Feel good hit, lost art, In the Fade...Monsters in the Parasol. All classics. No notes required.

It's the harbour festival. Yaaaaaay......So just picture a few thousand student loan fuelled moustaches descending on your front garden and people setting up stages playing music that makes you want to jam a screwdriver in your ear....I'm reliably informed it will end today...Get off my lawn. Etc....

Its giving me all the Stewart Lee 'Move to the countryside and look at the horse' Feelings.

I'm sure my mood will improve...:D

@thecure 1996 Release Wild mood swings. I think I picked this up 2021 on RSD...It has the dubious honour of being the only colour picture disc I own.

I mean of course I would post The Cure today..

The Blackweir gig whilst being a bit of an endurance test temperature wise..Was beautiful and memorable. Walking back through the crowd I was struck by how even with all the different ages, everyone was smiling and dancing. It was weirdly life affirming.

Thank you @moyagodspeed for braving the crowds and weather with me.

They actually played Treasure at the gig. Along with a track from Bloodflowers with the usual festival favourites. They genuinely seemed to be enjoying themselves. It was lovely to see.

Hope you are all ok now it's cooled off, the weather has been brutal. I recommend spending Sunday taking a nap and catching up on the lost sleep. :)

@finkmusic 9th studio album released June of this year. The city is coming to erase it all.

Does the shade is definitely my favourite track so far but it's been a perfect listen for today.

@trauma.ray Carnival EP released February this year...It's a fantastic EP from a band that have been pretty consistent from this to 2024's Chameleon..Split and Transmissions which was my gateway to them. Liftoff and Halley are easily some of my favourite tracks in the last five years.

On this one Hannibal is standing out but the whole thing is worth your time. It's a great EP..On the long list of bands I would love to see live.

Chelsea Wolfe's 2024 release Unbound
..Stripped-down versions of Whispers In The Echo Chamber, Dusk, The Liminal, and Place In The Sun..

Just her voice, a guitar, or piano..I love hearing songs taken back to the basic component parts. No band, effects, just the lyrics and melody to carry it.

These are so beautiful.
