Hi, I’m Tim. I play guitar, teach fingerstyle, and can talk about both for quite a while. My YouTube channel is proof of that.

I’ve been sharing in-depth lessons there for years. Now I’ll be sharing shorter ones here too. A few tips, techniques and things to try next time you pick up your guitar.

Got something you’re struggling with? Let me know. It might turn into a lesson.

With or without you, but the vocal break is on the guitar.

No singer, no band. Just one acoustic and a thumb pick carrying the melody, the bass and everything in between.

This is a teaser. The full lesson drops soon, step by step, so you can play it yourself.

From a stadium crowd of 35,000 on Saturday to an acoustic duo set for 8 on Sunday. Including 4 waiters.
Quite the change of scenery. Still brought the same guitar.

Quite a few notes in there. Luckily, we don’t have to learn them all at once.
In the full lesson, I break it down step by step so you can work through it at your own pace.

“Just sit down and play something.”

Sure. Let me set up the cameras, adjust the lights and move a few things first. A little look at what happens before I hit record. Wasn't counting on my neighbour's activities.

“Cannonball Rag”. A little workout for the thumb. And the other fingers, come to think of it.

Fancy giving it a go? Find the full lesson and a free preview at timvanroy.com. Link in bio.

Can you play this chord?

An Emaj9. Lovely sound, slightly less lovely stretch for your fingers. Grab your guitar and give it a go. Let me know how you get on.
