Leaving comments on survivors’ testimonies of male violent assault to ‘take self defence classes’, which is, to learn violence, is terribly insulting and not helpful.

Because… and call me naive if you want, but fighting violence with violence (even in self-defence) only creates more violence. It’s like driving a gasoline truck into a wildfire instead of calling the fire brigade to extinguish the flames!

And, as a friendly reminder, think before you speak to a victim-survivor of violent assault, because words and language can be deadly weapons, too.

What an utterly shocking and devastating weekend it’s been within an even hellish month for women and girls.

If you care about the safety and lives of women and girls in Australia, please sign @sherelemoodyfemicidewatch petition for a Royal Commission into Femicide. Because it’s long overdue for @albomp and the Australian government to take action towards preventing male violence against women and girls.

***LINK IN MY BIO***

It will take one minute of your time and just might be the best thing you did this weekend, this year, in your life.

Hello friends! BIG THANKS to everyone who kindly donated to my walk for WAGEC last Sunday. 10km walked and $1,459 raised. Really good going, but I’m not done. To everyone tuning in, please help me reach and surpass my fundraising goal of $2,000 for @womens.girls.emergency.centre by the end of September to support women and girls escaping domestic male violence.

I will be walking a further 10km this Sunday to hopefully hit that goal with your help!

Link to my fundraising page is in my bio up top! A super easy swipe up, click, donate, bing, bang, bosh, you’ve done a REALLY GOOD THING! (:

Thank you, lovely people. 💜💛💜

15 years ago today, at this exact time, a violent young man tried to end my life with a knife on a London bus.

I was attacked and ultimately stabbed because I chose to use my voice and risk my life to protect women from a violent man. As much damage as that moment caused me then and now, I would do it over and over again, because f**k male violence.

While my story is an example of the extreme cost of standing up to violent men, it’s also an example of how male violence, broadly speaking is a men’s issue.

On Sunday 13th September, I’ll be doing the walk for @womens.girls.emergency.centre to end male violence against women and children.

I’m walking for the 50 Australian women that have been killed by men so far this year.

I’m walking for the thousands of women and children trapped in abusive relationships and homes who are at risk of violent harm.

I’m walking for all the women in my life who have stories to tell about domestic violence and sexual assault.

I’m walking because male violence is a national crisis.

If you can help me raise my $2000 goal, that money will go towards WAGEC to help support women and children escaping violence. Every. Dollar. Counts.

A link to my fundraising page is in my bio! Or go to www.walkforwagec.org.au to help end violence against women and girls. 💜💛💜💛 by @timbasmits

Men who choose to centre their personal feelings, male privilege and entitlement within the conversation of male violence against women and girls—when there is a raging epidemic of male violence—are equally as dangerous as the men who physically harm, assault and kill women and girls.

It’s no time to be PG when the safety and lives of women and children are on the line. Period. by @timbasmits

Australia. Aug 23 - 30. Another abhorrent week for women and girls and survivors of male violence.

I just can’t with the inaction and gross silence of men right now.

THIS IS A CALL TO ACTION!

MEN: LISTEN! LEARN! UNLEARN! SPEAK UP!

And remember this: silence and male centering within/around stories of male violence against women and girls, for example “NOT ALL MEN”, is a form of violence.

All my designs for @t2tea’s ‘Tea to Take You Places’ series up close- featuring all my favourite things about Melbourne (yes, including THE RAIN!).

Tell me, good friend, what’s your favourite thing about Melbourne? If you live in Melbourne, that is. If not, what’s your favourite thing about TEA?

BIG THANKS again to the wonderful teams at @t2tea @jackywinter @nvtsmall, and… TEA! (: by @timbasmits

Tea To Take You Places. Melbourne.

I’m so happy and excited to be able to share this project here.

Last year, I was lucky to be selected to represent Melbourne as part of @t2tea’s ‘Tea to Take You Places’ collection.

It’s been a long wait during design and production, but finally, they’re on shelves and online for all you tea-sippers out there.

I was briefed by T2tea to bring my home city to life through my signature and silly style, celebrating the city’s creativity, colour and unmistakable character.

My challenge: to beautify the packaging and mugs for T2tea’s Melbourne Breakfast blend, which is black tea with a dash of vanilla. So good!

For my design I created a series of music posters that form a story about Melbourne and all the things I love about it. From the ’Sourdough Slices’ performing live with ‘The Smashed Avo’s’ to ‘The Trams’, and ‘Footy’ and the ‘Hot Pies’.

It was such a dreamy project to be a part of for a real dreamy client! Big, BIG thanks to the creative and marketing teams at T2tea (they’re the best!), my super-duper wonderful agents @jackywinter, and the film team at @nvtsmall, who made me look okay on camera! (:

+ a huge shout-out to the other seven talented artists in the series:
