More recent work. A small token for my lovely niece @toyalstovall on the occasion of her wedding. It’s taken me a while to share. For me I am excited about this piece because it marks a shift in my direction as a creator of objects as I continue to ponder why it is so important for me to make anything at all. Lately it’s my old pal jallaladin rumí that has the best guess going: only love. only the holder the flag fits into and wind. no flag 📷@linelkindesign and endless gratitude to every single being @woodschoolmaine for their encouragement and support. murmuration. 22”x8”x10” Ash borer beetle felled American ash. 2024 We are all moving together all the time. We are all moving even when we think we are holding very very still, with light always refracting all around us. This little fella, available through @coastcollective.us was created last winter during my residency at @pocosinarts Months later, I am still basking in the afterglow of that experience, still amazed and humbled by the opportunity that @marlenetrue @sarah.grace.cheek @made_by_lexie @gartslap and the whole team made possible. They all created the most marvelous container that allowed me to ponder why we make at all. And then to make. A lot. It’s an incredible place if you ever get the opportunity to go. Why make? I spend a lot of time thinking about my own motivation to do anything, and how. What constitutes an appropriate logic. Is it out of need or desire or fear or an authentic creative instinct to express yourself in a universe of other beings striving to be heard? I am privileged enough to live with some of the things I’ve built, here’s one of the first chairs I made from a few years back. It and I reside together in a forest surrounded by oak and bay and redwood trees. We are both in a way of this place, cut up by similar forces, honed by an energy greater than ours. I hope like the chair what is revealed in me will be all shimmering beauty captured amongst the long shadows of autumn light. California Bay Laurel. Welcoming in the first rains over at the cabin @foxholefarms. These nesting tables were from an early pandemic lockdown Lemonade series. They’ve worked out great as versatile elements in this small sanctuary space, surrounded by now juicy dripping trees. Made of oak scraps from a fancy remodel in SF. Lemonade. by @timber.works

Apothecary in California Pepperwood 2021. Bay Laurel, Rock Maple, Cypress and Brass. 18”x36”x82” a set of 4 stacked cabinets with sliding tambours, a roll top, three drawers, and apothecary doors. A place to hold solutions, a place to foster health and healing, a keeper of all the medicines, for the salve and balm to cure all that ails you. In essence it is designed to be the keeper of life. Throwback. Here is a piece from my first year @thekrenovschool . That year for me was magical, demanding, inspiring, heart-breaking and life affirming. It was an amazing experience that I had the privilege to be part of. It’s a place full of the most hard core wood nerds I’ve ever met. And a group of alumni has organized a raffle to fund BIPOC scholarships so that this privilege we have had can be shared. @krenovraffle Anyone who wants to dork out and make sawdust with a bunch of the loveliest geeks ever should be able to.
