The Timber Ridge Toy House: into toys and comics, 5.5": Remco, MOTU, KO's; 70's&80's memories

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Sometimes the bay of E still delivers…. Reasonable price on some vintage Remco gold. Wouldn’t it have been great if Hasbro had gotten on the MOTU bandwagon back in the day? 5.5 Joes would have been so cool, at least Remco tried…I wish they would have used the Arak mold for a knock off Spirit in this line. #80stoycollector #toypic #remcotoys #sgtrock by @timberidgetoys1973

Ulysseus Stygian Stare! Ulysseus’ divine sight has been twisted into a Stygian Stare by the will of Hades! This is Figure 21 in The Art of the Realm of the Underworld book. This version of Ulysseus was the first figure released in the third wave of the Slimed Drones. Will you help the blind bow hunter regain his divine sight or will he wander the swamps for all eternity? #zoloverse #toypic_community #fivepointfivefam #motuko by @timberidgetoys1973

Defenders of the Planets by Sparkle Toys from 1985! This is one of my favorite lines. I remember buying Quasar off the peg at the Dollar General in Bristol, TN. I had a couple of these guys back then, but Quasar was my favorite. I didn’t know the “carrier beasts” existed until my adult collecting days and they are awesome! #sparkletoys #80stoysarethebesttoys #motuko #kotoys by @timberidgetoys1973

Getting new toys is GREAT, rearranging shelves to accommodate new treasures, well, not great, but very satisfying once completed! I’m a collector of several Remco lines, including 3.75 scale Sgt. Rock and Crystar. Of course the 5.5 Sarge Team/Bad Guys is such a fantastically awkward combination of Sgt Rock and Remco 5.5 glory! Galoob’s Infaceables is another odd line with some hints of the Blackstar sculpts in them. It took awhile for the line to grow on me, but they are pretty cool. #toyshelfie #toypic_community #80stoysarethebesttoys #sgtrock by @timberidgetoys1973

Groove-Sum: 2015 NYCC EXCLUSIVE, a mortal trapped in the Stygian Swamps, his body claimed by the slime saturating his skin, his mind screaming to be freed! This is figure 20 in The Art of Realm of the Underworld book. The demons are from Galoob’s Blackstar series, but I think they look great with this figure. #realmoftheunderworld #zoloworld #motuko #remcotoys by @timberidgetoys1973

I don’t post MOTU very often, but when I got back into collecting about 20 years ago, it was one of the first lines I actively pursued. This poster is from my childhood, I found it in my parents basement digging through storage boxes when I started collecting again. There’s usually at least a little MOTU in most of my cabinets. #motu #mastersdeluniverso #hemanandthemastersoftheuniverse #80scartoons by @timberidgetoys1973

So Meta AI popped up with a notification and asked if I wanted to play with this picture which it had randomly scrubbed from my IG account and I said sure, I’m game, show me…. I’m assuming this post was chosen based on my recent viewing of a lot of Halloween, spooky season is coming kind of accounts, along with the paranormal stuff I consistently view, but is the electronic eye’s constant spying, spooky in and of itself? Sure, but I’m too old, fat and tired to really care anymore, I still spend too much time on this phone and I don’t see that changing and I think this poster is cool looking 🎃🦇🎃 #spookyseason👻 #halloweentime🎃 #zoloworld #customtoys by @timberidgetoys1973

Happy 4th! Going to watch Captain America at the local community theatre @bonniekatetheater in Elizabethton, TN. The theatre was fully renovated over the last few years, I remember watching some movies here back in my childhood, have been to several stage productions since they reopened, first movie experience (and they have @drenuf in the snack bar!) 4th of July parade after the movie too! #letsgotothemovies #smalltownamerica #marvelcaptainamerica #fourthofjulyweekend🇺🇸 by @timberidgetoys1973

Out of curiosity, has anyone seen one of these? I don’t remember them from back in the day. I had the Spider-Man and Batman in childhood and I acquired a Spider Man in package a few years ago (one of my favorites in the collection). There is a rider (without the bike) for sale on eBay which prompted me to look around for pictures. I’ve always loved motorcycle toys (and motorcycles (miss riding quite often)). Credit to @plaidstallions for this picture. #sgtrock #racktoys #remcotoys #dccomics by @timberidgetoys1973

So I’ve been visiting my local theater @legacy_theaters_bristol_14 rather frequently lately. It’s really nice to have reasons to go to the movies again. Quick opinion: saw @mastersmovie today, enjoyed it, clearly written and directed by childhood fans of the cartoon. Good, clean, cheesy fun with all the nostalgia vibes! Mandolorian: enjoyed it, I like the series and it felt like a long episode of the show with a bigger budget, again, good, clean fun. Mortal Kombat: enjoyed several of the characters, more of a comedy than I was expecting, but still enjoyed the overall experience. Backrooms: weeelll, I went to $6 Tuesday and I’m glad I did. I like psychological movies which require me to really pay attention to follow the plot line (what I was expecting), but it just fell short for me. Looking forward to several more movies in the coming months! #summermovie #motu #mandalorian by @timberidgetoys1973

Not a rare one, but not an easy one to find with the original breech cloth still intact and undamaged. When I run across this guy in this shape for $15, hard to pass up. I had some extra weapons (which I never pass up if I find) to complete him. Arak was my first Remco 5.5 back in the day, purchased at Howard Brothers discount store (the building sat vacant for years after they closed, later became Big Lots (which I helped build/open in 1993) and about six months ago became a Tractor Supply after Big Lots closed…. A little local retail history from Bristol, TN). #araksonofthunder #motuko #vintagetoys #80stoys #remcotoys by @timberidgetoys1973

Figure 19: KRY-SIS (The Warrior), this version was an exclusive for those who bought the complete second Slimed Drones Assortment. He came in a white mailer box, sealed bag. I immediately removed him from the bag, but I still have the box in storage. I really like the nod to the old mail away figures from back in the day. #zoloworld #remcotoys #realmoftheunderworld #toypic #motuko by @timberidgetoys1973
