Haven't painted as much lately, but have been doing a fair bit of kitbashing. Maybe something here will work well as a next display piece. Anyway, here's a corrupted Ash Waste Shaman. Cast out from his clan, he spent years wandering the wastes, speaking to the dust, until one day the dust spoke back. It's been a while. This was a converted bust from Stormtrooper Miniatures WW1 German Trench Raider, luckily @specmodmodelsaustralia just happened to have one. I also gave him this cool religious jar on his back, I'll have to take some photos. I wanted to do a @trench_crusade themed conversion in true grimdark fashion, and I think I achieved that. I quite love everything Trench Crusade, and everything grimdark, I think this might be a theme of things to come for a while. We'll see. What a great sculpt from @veiled_lamp Did this as a fun piece with no expectations and gave myself a week to get it done (something I struggle with is futzing with a piece for months). It was an absolute joy to paint. If you haven't got a copy, I highly recommend picking it up! by @timbopaints

I love Christmas time. Although around this time of year I feel a lot more grateful than usual, I feel as though I should be reflecting on that gratitude throughout the year more. Whilst I'm always grateful for my family and being able to overcome and withstand the challenges that life throws us, there are many other things I'm grateful for. So, as I try to wrangle with making that a New Year's resolution (I still have time), I just have a few words. As this is a hobby profile, I'll talk about the hobby and what it means for/to me. I came into miniature painting when I was in a very tough spot in my life. I needed an outlet of sorts, and this is where I landed. What I've got out of it has brought a light to my life that I never knew I needed. I try as much as I can to give back to this community, as it has done so much for me. It's easy to get caught up in everything else that should be secondary in life and in our hobby. Sometimes, I feel some of us place too much importance on the things that don't really matter, and a much needed 're-alignment' of goals and purpose is needed. At least, this has been something I have struggled with. I've realised that this hobby, for me, isn't about the accolades, awards, recognition, who can paint the better Spira, the better NMM, or the better Pez. It's about the people. To have fun, meaningful moments with the people we hold near and dear is what it's all about. I've been lucky enough to make some amazing friends on this journey and have developed friendships that extend past the hobby itself. I value every interaction I have with all of you from the Australian painting community. To the fam who are in the trenches (you know who you are) throughout everything with the highs and lows we each face in life, I appreciate you more than you know. You have all made a lasting impact on my life, and I think 'family' really is an appropriate descriptor here. <3 So, I now leave you for another year, with a Christmas Orc I was able to mess around with recently (sculpted by the amazing Sebastian Archer @veiled_lamp), as well as the greatest Christmas song of all time.
