Took the girls to visit the Alden House in Duxbury, MA yesterday —a place that holds a special meaning for our family, and someone extra close to our hearts.

In early 2023, my mom Juanita K. Csontos, received a notification on @familysearch tracing our roots back to her 6th great-grandmother, Mary Heard, and leading straight to her great-grandmother, Harriet Alden Baker (and her father, Stephen Alden).

After years of searching in vain for a photograph of Harriet, that same search uncovered a family portrait showing Harriet alongside her husband James, her children (including my mom’s father, Reid - who is bottom left of picture), and extended family.

It reconnected us directly to our lineage with the Alden family who arrived on the Mayflower.

My mom, who passed away later that same year, was over the moon when she made that discovery.

Standing at the historic Alden House yesterday with my daughters, I couldn’t help but think about how much she would have loved being there with us to walk through that piece of our shared history.

Feeling so grateful to honor her memory and pass these roots down to the girls! ❤️
