THE SURROUNDINGS AT SUKUH TEMPLE

Tuesday, October 29, 2024. Leaving from Jogja around noon, we rode a motorbike for about two hours. The weather was scorching, and along the way, we had to stop several times because the heat and soreness got to us.

We entered the foothills of Mount Lawu, the road started to climb steeply. Luckily, the motorbike we borrowed was tough enough.
Air felt cool and fresh, such a relief after the heat, From up there, we could see the city far below, a beautiful view that made the journey worth it.

Before entering the temple area, we were required to wear a cloth (kain) provided at the entrance, a simple gesture that somehow added to the sense of stepping into a sacred space. Standing there, Sukuh Temple looked majestic, quietly guarding the many mysteries it has carried through the centuries.
