WHAT FACE ARE YOU CHOOSING?

HOW OUR FACES CHANGE
The thoughts that you are thinking today create the face you will have in the future. Next time you are out and about notice people’s facial expression. Their facial expressions are a physical representation of their thoughts. Do they look Happy? Angry? Sad? Worried? The thoughts and resulting emotions that they have most often are shaping their future faces. When people are chronically thinking negative thoughts, it shows on their face. It’s no wonder the beauty industry is such a huge money maker!

TEST IT OUT FOR YOURSELF
Try this experiment:

Stand in front of a mirror.
Make your most intense angry face and hold it for a count of ten. While you are holding it check in with how your body feels. Does it feel tense, tight? This is the face that is being formed over time with chronic negative thoughts. Now relax your face.

Make your most intense happy face and hold it for a count of ten. While you are holding it check in with how your body feels. Does it feel relaxed, soft? This is the face that is being formed over time with chronic positive thoughts. Now relax your face.

This simple exercise demonstrates how powerful your thoughts are over time; even the sub conscious ones. In addition, negative thoughts release stress hormones into the body (cortisol – adrenaline), whereas positive thoughts release feel good hormones into the body (serotonin – dopamine).
A quick and powerful mood changer

So, try this practice next time you feel upset. Sit quietly, close your eyes and smile big. Now take 15 very slow full breaths (inhale/exhale through your nose only) and then slowly open your eyes. Did you notice the feel-good hormones coming in? It only takes 90 seconds for your body’s chemical reaction to shift to match your expression… 90 SECONDS!

Now, go out into the world and shine your BIGGEST SMILE! And by the way, smiles are CONTAGIOUS!

You got this…

Embracing Your Uniqueness

"Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of somebody else."
– Judy Garland

Why Do We Care?

Have you ever wondered why we care so much about what others think of us? Each one of us is a unique, unrepeatable individual. What if you chose to embrace that uniqueness fully? How might it change the way you show up in your life?

We may all share the same essential parts, a head, a heart, a brain, but that’s where the similarity ends. You are the sum of your choices, your experiences, your story. And that makes you unlike anyone else on this planet.

Yes, others may share your talents, knowledge, or skills, but no one will ever express them the way you do. Much like the leaves on a tree, each is a leaf, yet no two are exactly alike.

What if you shifted your mindset?

What if you began to celebrate the fact that there is no one else quite like you? What if that shift gave you the courage to stop playing small and to stop fearing what others might think?

Years ago in graduate school, I confessed to a teacher, “I have never felt like I fit in anywhere.” His response? “Perhaps that is a very good thing.” That moment changed me forever, for the better.

Throughout history, countless inventors, creators, and visionaries have transformed our world. Do you think they could have done that if they had bowed to the criticism of others? Of course not. They were driven by purpose and by honoring their unique gifts.

Are you ready?

So what about you? Are you tired of trying to fit in?
If so, stand tall, raise your arms, and declare: “I AM FREE TO BE ME!”

You’ve got this...
