BOHS, FRIDAY NOVEMBER 13th: ZKELLIES (LIVE) RICHARD B. & MAEVE O'NEILL !
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Very exited to hear what Richard B brings to Bohs. He is such a good selector and dj. Our bodies ad minds are in for a treat. Perfect music for body time combobulation. The clip is from the track Mindcontrol by Ingo Hammer released on Richard's own label Industrial Lies.

Richard B has been involved with electronic music for 30 years. He worked as a music journalist from 1996 to 2020, writing for Irish and international outlets including Hot Press, Juno Plus, Resident Advisor and most notably at DJ Mag - where he was techno editor for over 20 years. He has interviewed artists such as Drexciya, Jeff Mills, Underworld, Robert Hood, Depeche Mode, Dave Clarke, Juan Atkins, Surgeon, Silent Servant, Regis, Carl Craig etc.

Richard was a resident DJ at Test, the night that brought acts like Sleeparchive, Redshape, Sandwell District and Dopplereffekt to Dublin.

In 2016, he set up First Cut( @first_cut_records ) a vinyl label dedicated to showcasing emerging techno, house and electro talent from Ireland, with releases from Giles Armstrong, Defekt, Tr-One, Lerosa and Reflection Port Assembly.

In 2024, he established Industrial Lies. Named after the B-side of Cybotron's 'Clear', the label platforms Chicago house, ebm, industrial and new beat-inspired music. Releases to date have come from Der Strom, Poseidon84 and Ingo Hammer.

A lifelong record collector, Richard's vinyl sets are across the board, from new wave and Italo Disco to jacking acid tracks and raw Hague bangers. by @timeinbody

Time in Body & This Combobulation Association team up to present This Body Time Combobulation in Dublin's most punkest venue, Mono's Bar in Dalymount. We are absolutely stoked with the line up for this one. It's going to be another epic night in Bohs. Tickets live now on RA đŸ–€

Featuring:
ZKELLIES (Live) (APT Records)
Maeve O'Neill
Richard B. (Industrial Lies)

ZKELLIES
ZKELLIES perform live techno played by hand & foot. It is music for dancing.

The ZKELLIES show is an attempt to perform techno music according to Steve Reich's principle of "no hidden structural devices". To this end, ZKELLIES utilise no backing tracks. No sequencers. No click track.

Longtime Irish underground music stalwart Andy Connolly (Naive Ted, Unscene) has enlisted the renowned pair of Dan Walsh (Fixity) & Killian Barton (Bill Karnation) to create a series of short musical phrases designed to be played by two drummers, moving between these phrases in the same way as a DJ builds a set, performing a perceived "faithful" version of loop-based, dancefloor focussed, techno music.

This particular strand of techno is traditionally created with sequencers controlling synthesizers & samplers. ZKELLIES is an attempt to take the sequencer out of the equation.

Though the music is semi-improvised & experimental in nature, there is no wish to subvert the norms of the techno space, only a desire to perform the music respectfully & in a different way.

It is music for dancing.

Maeve O'Neill
Renowned Irish electronic DJ known for relentless energy, hypnotic rhythms and expert use of acid lines. Has shared lineups with Eliza, Lolz, Gesloten Cirkel and ELLLL.

Richard B
30 years in electronic music, including 20+ years as techno editor at DJ Mag. Founder of First Cut and Industrial Lies. His vinyl sets range from new wave and Italo disco to jacking acid and raw Hague bangers.

Gesloten Cirkel, aka Ratsnake – someone whose influence runs deep yet rarely seen on lineups. True to the name - Dutch for “Closed Circle” - taken from a quote by I-f in the 2005 documentary When I Sold My Soul To The Machine. Even when you don’t know it’s a Gesloten Cirkel tune, you just know: a buy-on-sight artist whose live appearances are not to be missed.

Gesloten Cirkel caught I-f’s attention after submitting tracks to IFM, his radio station in The Hague - a place he holds dearly. “I like tracks to have character,” and they certainly do.

“I was 13 or 14, playing with friends in band practice rooms where they only have guitar amps
I basically played by myself on the groove box through a guitar amp. So I think that crusty, overdriven sound just came naturally, because that’s all there was.”

Here are a few of our timeless tracks, plus remixes that tick all the boxes!

He is coming equipped with that 303, and you better believe he’ll be bending that acid!

Gesloten Cirkel is joined by Maeve O’Neill and Kronk (live) this Saturday @yamamoritengu - not to be missed!

Ahead of Saturdays gig at @yamamoritengu, its time to introduce the first live act of the night and honestly
..Where to begin?! Kronk is one half of Whirling Hall Of Knives - alongside The Last Sound - as well as Magnetize, the monikor that saw it all begin back in 2002.

Added to this are projects such as Nwyvre (live one-take harsh rhythmic noise), Larynx Tompkins with Sunil Sharpe (noisey techno), Sound Breaking Sky (edits and remixes of massive 70s/80s hits), and the current Kronk moniker, which leans more into the straight-ahead but rawer side of techno/electro.

In past reviews the work has been compared to the likes of Faust and Cabaret Voltaire, and has releases on Earwiggle, Fort Evil Fruit, Newcastle’s Cruel Nature Records, and their own now-in-cold-storage Trenmsat and Nute Records.

With that being said, we took on the daunting task of whittling down a few releases from the many monikers to give a taste of what is in store on Saturday night.

Kronk will be armed with a Torso S4 and honestly
we don’t really know what to expect. Maybe mutant bunker techno, maybe something else entirely. Either way, we’re excited.

Slide 2 - Kronk – Fiaresh (self-released)
Rowdy AF.

Slide 3 - WHOK – Comminute (Earwiggle)
Released on Sunil Sharpe’s Earwiggle. Their first departure from their own Transmet label, with a killer 11-minute Ancient Methods remix to boot.

Slide 4 - Nwyvre – Bone Collapse (Fort Evil Fruit)
12 live one-take tracks spliced into two continuous pieces for tape
 HEFTY.

Slide 5 - Magnetize – Hardcopy (Templedog / Earwiggle)
A stone-cold Irish classic. Originally released on Templedog and later reissued on Earwiggle’s Dreams Of Electric Bleep - an Irish electro compilation covering 1999–2005. A must-have.

Slide 6 - Nwyvre – Aileach (Fort Evil Fruit) !!!

Slide 7 - Whirling Hall Of Knives – PFP-WK (WHOK)
Mesmerising, heavy noise/techno hybrids in homage to Sola Sound.

Slide 8 - Torso S4 workout!

We highly recommend you go and follow Kronk’s page for those daily unstreamable hidden gems, and sign up to their mailing list for in-depth ramblings of all sorts.

We are beyond excited to announce that none other than Gesloten Cirkel will join us for the next Time in Body at Tengu on March 21st.

Gesloten Cirkel (live) - a visionary, never afraid to push boundaries or bend that acid-tinged electro into uncharted territory - have been building, making and using custom machines to shape a sound entirely their own. First appearing on Murder Capital in 2009 with the self-titled release, later followed by instant classic Submit X in 2014; the sound is twisted, brutal, and like nothing else out there.

With a steady stream of releases on Solar One, Moustache Records, Bad Manners, and most recently Selvamancer, Gesloten Cirkel continues to deliver something uncompromising, ruthless, and unmistakable.

They’re prepping a brand new live set for us at Tengu
 maybe coming from the Midwest
 who knows?

Joining on the night is - Kronk (live) & Maeve O’Neill.

Kronk is the current moniker of Stephen Gettings (Magnetize, Whirling Hall of Knives, Nwyvre), who has been relentlessly releasing material since the 1990s across many labels, including Earwiggle and Fort Evil Fruit. Their vast, quietly consistent output spans abrasive industrial techno, electro, drone, and harsh rhythmic noise, and their back catalogue is an immersive wormhole. Kronk will be bringing the noise and we couldn’t think of a better match for the night - brace yourselves!!

TiB's Maeve O’Neill on the support duties, we are excited!

Tickets in the bio.

This Friday we welcome @vladimir_ivkovic & @lena_willikens to Dublin for a special extended set in collaboration with @yamamoritengu

If you're still on the fence we've got you, over the next couple of days we will jump in and take a look at what makes these DJs some of the best in the scene. First up get to know Vladimir Ivkovic!

Ivkovic is one of the most exciting DJs who is celebrated for his deep musical knowledge and adventurous sets. Ivkovic is someone with a particularly unique talent for selecting records and weaving them into a larger – and often unusually compelling – narrative.

Vladimir’s sets are known for being deep, unpredictable, and richly textured, often diverging from conventional dance music paths. He mixes varied tempos and genres, blending techno, house, ambient, industrial, EBM, synth-pop and rarely-heard obscurities.

His label Offen Music reflects Ivkovic’s wide-ranging, open-minded musical vision, blending experimental rarities, ambient textures, and off-kilter electronic sounds with archival and contemporary releases. It serves as a platform for eclectic artists and archival material that capture unique, subjective musical moments, embodying Ivkovic’s deep love for unusual and timeless music.

Ivkovic and Willikens share a long-standing DJ partnership rooted in friendship and the spirit of Salon des Amateurs where both were key residents. After years of informal back-to-backs at Salon, they began performing regularly as a duo, bringing their shared love of curiosity-driven, non-linear DJing to clubs and festivals across Europe. Their sets are defined by trust, patience, and risk-taking—and are less about peak-time impact, think more collective listening and deep musical discovery.

So grab a ticket now and join us Friday for a special 3.5 hour journey from two of the best 😍 by @timeinbody

Not long until December 19th, where we & @yamamoritengu welcome Willikens & Ivković for an extended set in Tengu. These are two artists you simply can’t talk about without metioning Salon des Amateurs, where their friendship and fearless approach to DJing was forged.

Founded in 2004 inside the brutalist Kunsthalle Düsseldorf, Salon grew from the city’s long lineage of experimental spaces like Creamcheese and Ratinger Hof - Düsseldorf also being home to Kraftwerk, NEU!, DAF, and Liaisons Dangereuses. The Salon was always destined to be anything but ordinary. A space for outliers, a home for artistic performances, unconventional DJ sets, and experimentation in all its forms. Essential.

Together, they helped shape the Salon’s unmistakable sound, weaving anything from Coil to Nocturnal Emissions into something completely their own, records played at the wrong and right speed, with daring unpredictability and precision that only Willikens and Ivković - always on the same wavelength - can deliver.

It’s been eight years since they last played here together and we are hyped. You don’t wanna miss this!
