November 1.

We know what that means. 🚂 🎄 ⛄️ by @timelessfrenchlick

POV: You discover one of Indiana's most historic golf courses and suddenly your weekend getaway turns into a whole golf experience. ⛳🍂

Welcome to The Donald Ross Course at French Lick Resort in French Lick, Indiana.

This course isn't just pretty to look at. It's got HISTORY.

Designed by legendary golf course architect Donald Ross and originally opened in 1917, this classic layout has been testing golfers for more than a century.

A few things that make this course special:

⛳ 18 holes | Par 70– A traditional championship layout with plenty of character.

🏌️ 80 deep-faced bunkers : Because apparently Donald Ross believed in keeping golfers humble.

🌿 Classic undulating greens: Beautifully shaped, challenging, and definitely not here to make your putting life easy.

🏆 1924 PGA Championship: The course hosted the championship won by legendary golfer Walter Hagen.

And when you're finished battling the bunkers, head over to Hagen's Club House Restaurant, named after Walter Hagen himself.

Think panoramic golf course views, steaks, seafood, burgers, salads and their signature BBQ ribs or their brisket. Because every good golf day deserves a proper 19th-hole experience.

Whether you're a scratch golfer, a weekend warrior, or just a girl who loves a beautiful golf course and a good cocktail, French Lick deserves a spot on your golf getaway list.

Sometimes it's not about the scorecard. It's about the places golf takes you. ❤️

THE PETE DYE COURSE AT FRENCH LICK – ORANGE COUNTY, INDIANA

LOCATION
French Lick, Indiana. Approximately 1.5 hours from Indianapolis or Louisville and 13 hours from NYC.

COURSE DESCRIPTION (PUBLIC RESORT)
The Pete Dye Course occupies one of the Midwest’s most unexpected golf landscapes. Opened in 2009, it moves across the elevated hills of southern Indiana with panoramic views, dramatic elevation changes and fairways that rarely travel directly toward their destination.

Stretching to 8,102 yards from the championship tees, the course can appear intimidating. Multiple tee options make the experience manageable, while strategic angles and uneven terrain ensure it remains unmistakably Pete Dye.

GREEN FEES
2026 resort pricing is $450 Sunday through Thursday and $500 Friday and Saturday, including cart. A mandatory forecaddie costs an additional $50 per player plus gratuity. Same-day replays are $200, subject to availability.

Resort guests receive priority access. Non-resort guests may request tee times beginning two weeks in advance by calling for current rates and availability.

NOTABLE HOLES
(1) Hole 11, Par 4 — One of the course’s highest and most photogenic points, with an elevated tee shot revealing the scale of the surrounding hills.

(2) Hole 3, Par 5 — A winding fairway encourages golfers to follow Dye’s intended angles rather than aim directly toward the green. The clubhouse overlooks the hole from the hill above.

LOCAL FOOD AND DRINKS
(1) The Mansion at Pete Dye — Lunch and drinks overlooking the course.

(2) 1875: The Steakhouse — French Lick Springs Hotel’s signature steakhouse. Each meal begins with a tomato juice shooter recognizing the drink’s reported invention at the resort in 1917.

(3) 33 Brick Street — A local sports bar featuring personal memorabilia from French Lick legend Larry Bird.

A fall weekend with nowhere else to be. 🍂

Take the long way. Stay for the music. Catch the leaves from the lake. There’s a little bit of everything happening around Orange County this weekend.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 9
🏡 6th Annual Front Porch Concert | Orleans | 6–9 PM
A front porch, live music and an old fashioned ice cream social. Sounds like a pretty good Friday night to us. Join Hometown Scoops at the 1847 Historic Home for an evening of music from Kirby Staley, performances by the Dazzlers Dance Team, carriage rides, food, fall treats and more.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 10
🍁 18th Annual Orleans Fall Fun Fest | Historic Congress Square
Make a day of it in Orleans. Wander through the farmers market, paint a pumpkin, grab something good to eat, take a carriage ride or stick around for the car show and a free afternoon concert with RetrOasis. The kids will find plenty to do, too.

🍷 Fall Foliage Wine Cruise | Patoka Lake | 2–4 PM
Fall looks a little different from the water. Climb aboard the Patoka Voyager at Patoka Lake Marina for an afternoon of wine, changing leaves and nowhere to rush off to.

🎶 Morris Day & The Time | French Lick Resort | 7 PM
End the day on a higher note. Morris Day & The Time take the stage at the Exhibition Hall at French Lick Resort for a Saturday night made for getting up and moving. Or do a little bit of everything. You’ve got time.

A gorgeous little overnight anni trip in @timelessfrenchlick 🍸🍁⛳️🎰 Celebrated 9 years of marriage, had such a great time at West Baden Springs Hotel, managed not to lose any money at the casino, and also managed not to lose many balls at Pete Dye (the latter is far more impressive)🫶🏼 A weekend right up our alley🥹 by @timelessfrenchlick

Wait… there’s a SAFARI in Indiana?! 🦒🦓👀

We added Wilstem Wildlife Park to the end of our French Lick family getaway, and this is SUCH a fun Indiana experience to put on your family bucket list!

Here’s what to know 👇

📍 **Wilstem Wildlife Park | Paoli, Indiana**
🚗 Experience the park on a self-guided drive-thru safari
🦓 See a variety of animals as you drive through the property
👀 You get some seriously up-close views—keep those windows up when instructed!
👨‍👩‍👦‍👦 Easy activity to do with the entire family from your vehicle
📸 Have your phone ready because there are plenty of photo + video opportunities
⏰ Give yourself plenty of time so you’re not rushing through the experience
🏨 Staying in French Lick or West Baden? This makes such a fun addition to your getaway!

We loved making this our **last adventure before heading home**. It was completely different from everything else we did during our 48 hours in French Lick and definitely had the kids watching out every window to see what animal was coming next. 🦒

SAVE this for your next Southern Indiana adventure + SEND it to the family you’d take on safari!

And FOLLOW **@thehoosiermama_** for more Indiana hidden gems, family day trips + Midwest getaways you can actually recreate. 🤍

Thirty years ago, the relighting of the West Baden Springs Hotel arches marked the start of an incredible revival. 💡✨

To celebrate in 1996, Bill and Gayle Cook invited the community to an ice cream social. Now, 30 years later, French Lick Resort is bringing that tradition back with complimentary ice cream and a celebration of this timeless icon.

Join @frenchlickresort on August 30 from 7–9 PM at the West Baden Springs Hotel Archway Entrance as we celebrate 30 years of this beloved Indiana landmark and the tradition that began with it. 🍦

Maybe that’s what I love most about traveling with them.

It’s not the fancy hotels or the room service.

It’s watching them experience something for the first time and realizing that, to them, this is the magic.

They don’t need to know how much the trip cost.
They don’t need to understand all the planning behind it.

They just get to be kids
They get explore
They to get to imagine
They get to feel like the world is a little bit magical.

And maybe years from now, they won’t remember what hotel we stayed in but I hope they remember how it felt to be little. ✨

What’s a childhood memory you hope you kids never forget ? by @timelessfrenchlick
