Today's mix marks one year of People Like Us Radio!

I've really enjoyed putting these mixes together over the past year, and the show is a great opportunity to showcase my equal emphasis on melody and rhythm mantra, which is also the music policy for our Sydney parties, and also to feature my own music. Thanks to Grahame Farmer and Data Transmission for the opportunity, and I'm looking forward to the next 12 months of shows.

This mix has a few themes which I wanted to highlight. The early part has a bit of a Northern Exposure vibe which is obviously timely, coming from Spencer Brown's Storm Chasing and in particular Tim French's excellent Setting Sun Mix of Solaris by Last Voyage, which transitions nicely into the Dee Montero Rendition of Morgan King's I'm Free.

The mix also features two tracks from Stripped Recordings, in the form of the Carlos Bacchus Remix of Lloyd Barwood's The Sound of the Universe, plus the exceptional Chapter Two from Xander Sesson and Guy Benton, which recently spent a week as Beatport number one in the progressive house releases chart. Stripped is a label I'm building a relationship with, so stay tuned for more on that in the coming months. I've also really enjoyed going through their catalogue recently and finding lots of gems.

And that's also a neat segway into the final point to mention, which is Make Your Transition, run by Paul James Nolan, who introduced me to Norman H and Stripped. The final three tracks in the mix are all MYT related, being Paul's excellent remix of Nick Warren's Waves, my unreleased track Invisible, and Chapter Two, referenced above.

So there are lots of different touchpoints for this mix, which is fitting for this one year milestone, and I'm really happy with it.

You can hear it live on Data Transmission's website today at 2pm UK time, which is 10pm in Sydney, or otherwise on the DT and Doug Loch SoundCloud or MixCloud from tomorrow.

Thanks for listening, and I hope you enjoy the music ♥️

HOUSE OF GOSPEL

Sing a classic house track with a gospel vibe

Come as you are. No experience needed, no preparation and absolutely no pressure to be a “singer”. This is about letting go, getting stuck in and having a ridiculously good time.

With Sequinser leading the way, a room full of strangers will become one massive house choir, building a classic anthem into glorious three-part harmony.

And this time, the track is an absolute banger: HEAVEN by The Vision.

It also happens to be Sequinser’s birthday, so this House of Gospel comes with added party energy. We’ll sing, celebrate, make some noise and then carry on the party afterwards. 🪩

You don’t need to know what you’re doing. You don’t need to learn anything beforehand. Just turn up, open your mind, let yourself go and join in. Sequinser and Mocking J will do the rest.

By the end, we’ll be lifting the roof off Plymouth’s much-loved former 19th-century church with a proper old-school house anthem — together.

Optional dress code: Sparkles are always welcome. ✨✨✨✨ #cosmicsessions #madeinplymouth #cocktails by @timfrenchdj
