During the month of November, my friend David and I have been working on the creation of a collaborative project in which our respective backgrounds as both Designer and Fine Artist merge.

The bench is the first piece of the collection, creating an object on which multiple people can share sitting and discussions.
The wood used for this piece has been locally sourced within the southern Sweden region in which we were working.

Ash and Elm wood, 240x50x45cm.

Big thanks to @jakob.ryd for the pictures. taken in Sweden by @timguiran

For a long time, I had been looking to acquire antique Rörstrand Swedish ceramics by two of my favorite artists, Gunnar Nylund and Carl-Harry Stålhane.

During my first trip to Stockholm last week, I met an elderly local at a flea market, and we got talking about these artists. We exchanged numbers, and he later sent me photos of his amazing collection. The next morning, I travelled to his home in a nearby town to see it in person.

After long discussions and exchanges, I selected a small group of pieces by both artists, all made in Sweden between the 1940s and 1960s.

It feels especially meaningful to begin this collection in the land where these pieces were created. taken in Sweden by @timguiran

This is why I love collecting

I bought these two sculptures from different auction houses more than a year appart; but it was only later, while researching both artists, that I discovered they had been long-lost friends over 130 years ago.

Raphael Schwartz (1884-1942) and Jacob Loutchansky (1876-1978) both fled Ukraine to escape Russian imperialism in the late 1800s (how actual). They only met once they were both living in Paris, through mutual friends such as Auguste Rodin or even Claude Debussy.

Yet now they meet again in Paris, reuniting after more than a hundred years, in the very city they first met. taken in Paris, France by @timguiran
