“Fuck it”

Sometimes we can overthink things. Sometimes we overplan. Sometimes you have to just say ‘fuck it’ and let things out into the wider world.

For the past few years I have always been in my studio making work. Preparing for a show. I can see the show in my head when I close my eyes, and today I am closer to that show, but still, in reality theres hundreds of pieces of work no one has seen, and I make work every week - so the number is constantly growing.
It’s been a shit week and tonight I’ve had a beer and thought “fuck it. Let’s post a collage”….here’s to saying “fuck it” and letting go of things. by @timhead1980

Studio mixes

I make garage band cut and shut studio mixes of new music for me to listen to in the studio or when im working. They are made for me and not a secret beg to be an actual DJ. Each one is between 1 -3 hours+ and feature a range of music, from dub techno, jazz, balearic to ambient, jungle and hip hop. Tonight I uploaded the 325th mix.

I had shared them through my newsletter last year, but since im busier than ever and behind on my newsletter I thought I’d share the link here incase anyone is interested.

Links are free, but if you like something Shazam it and support the artist ✌🏻

Dropping end of this week

Short: Im doing a new, free monthly newsletter, full of cool free shit and exclusives. Sign up at www.timhead.com

Long: Im starting a free newsletter.
It’s not a paid Substack or a beg for me to act like a failed journalist writing flowery prose about crap no one cares about (“oh hey, heres my new Dill and Raisins recipe” LOL). It’s also not a public ego stroke, shameless money shill and hopefully it won’t make you reach for the unsubscribe button as quickly as if you saw a Diddy party invite drop in your inbox. I have one rule, it can’t suck.

In this digital revolution, our attention spans are being taken out the back to be shot against a pixelated brick wall. Getting important information to the right people (YOU) at the right time is now a guaranteed impossibility. When I / you / we spend a lot of time and energy working on something cool, then see its launch buried in the brutal and callous algorithm of social media is the definition of frustrating. There are only so many times that you can be ghosted after a first date despite wearing your finest cyberdog vest and fedora. If ‘they’ change the rules, we must adapt.

The newsletter will be the first port of call of stuff im doing. It’s where all the cool and exclusive stuff will drop before IG - if it drops on IG. Im gearing up this year, and this is going to be kinda like a VIP room, but one thats free, and without TOWIE members and cheap champagne with sparklers. My newsletter will be like the Criterion version of my stuff - exclusive extras, directors commentary, free stuff and a no nonsense seal of quality. Time is our most important asset, and I wont waste yours.

Head over to timhead.com to sign up. The first one will be dropping end of this week. Try it, and if you dont like it and unsubscribe we can still be friends.

Thank you for reading this far, and hopefully you’ll dig what I’ve been working on.

OH…and if your wondering what the poster is in the image…thats part of a new monthly affordable art project im launching with the first newsletter. Each newsletter gives you exclusive access to a newsletter only colour way …so if interested, sign up before the first newsletter drops end of this

I make mixes to listen to in my studio.

They are Garageband cut’n’shuts. No technique or flair involved. They are made primarily for me to listen to while I work, so they are not begs to get DJ slots.

I love Bruxaria, and made this little mix for a friend, after we had a conversation where they didn’t understand the music that I was describing. They liked it. Maybe you will.

For those that don’t know, Glastonbury (@glastofest) is arguably the biggest (and best) music festival in the world, and Strummerville (@joestrummerfund) is one of its most important legacy stages.

As well being a world class music stage (Fred again did a secret set there last week), the site is centred around a bonfire that burns bright throughout the festival. The bonfire is (to me at least) the soul of the stage, and is a ritual that Joe Strummer himself personally started, offering a safe, warm and inclusive place for like minded people at the festival 24 hours a day. Today, while the fire still burns bright, so too does the punk icons legacy.

This year, I was kindly asked to help out on a few assets. I tried to take it back to its roots and core personality, and as Strummerville will be forever tied to Joe Strummer, I wanted to design with Joe not just for him…so I collated as much of his handwritten lyrics and drawings and incorporated them into the site and design…all the handwritten text seen in these designs was/is Joes.

Strummerville at @joestrummerfund is very inspiring to me and when working on this, it reminded me about the important of creating a positive legacy, one without ego or net gain, about putting something out there that will live (and enrich) long after we have left. That to me is real success in life…. So, thanks @joestrummerfund for letting me be a small part this year ✌🏻

Massive bigups to @zizi______allure
