I met Lucas and his mom last summer in NYC.

Walking through Central Park I noticed a young kid with a bunch of books and a sign that said “Discover the Magic of Light: The Journey Begins”.

I spoke with him, asked what the story was about, how he came up with the idea, and paid for a hard cover copy.

After reading it on a bench nearby, I returned and asked him if he and his mom would be interested in an audiobook version of it at no cost to them. Much to my joy, they said yes!

Over the past few months we’ve been writing back and forth, making sure Lucas was in on the whole casting process, choosing sound design elements, and leaving his mark on the audio.

(I paid the narrator and editor don’t worry!)

While in Vegas for Author Nation 2025, I met Greg from Curios.com, told him about Lucas, and he offered to cover the hosting fee for him and his mom as well as feature him on the site.

Now we’re here!

Lucas is SO excited to have his audiobook live and we want to make this an even more special experience for him by flooding him with sales.

When you buy through Curios, Lucas is the only one who makes money. Nothing to the site, nothing to THC and Audiobook Bonanza.

Ten Years Married. Fourteen together.

From two kids who thought careers would happen, then marriage, to two kids who chose each other and to build it all as a team.

@dejong.jessica I do not, and will never fully, deserve the light and grace you bring to the world. Each year that we spend together shows me that no matter how well I *think* I know you, you continue to grow and demonstrate how deep your well is.

I don't!

4 years ago today I woke up(still drunk) and had had enough of the relationship I built with alcohol. Haven't gone back and never will.

Outside of getting married, this was the best choice I've ever made.

Sobriety looks different on everyone, find what makes it work for you and stick to it, one day at a time.
