The way we sometimes respond to love isn't only about the person in front of us.

The way we learned to experience closeness, safety, and emotional connection can shape how we show up in relationships as adults.

Avoidant attachment is one example of this.

It can look like wanting connection, enjoying someone deeply, and then suddenly feeling the urge to create distance when things become more emotionally vulnerable.

Understanding the pattern doesn’t excuse the hurtful behaviour.
But sometimes, understanding why someone pulls away can help us see the relationship and ourselves with a little more clarity.

One of the easiest ways to get disappointed is to expect people to have the same heart you have.

And sometimes, it's not even that they're bad people.
They just aren't you.

You have to learn that people will make decisions based on who they are, not who you would be in their position.

Keep your good heart.
Keep being you.

‎Apparently, a bride recently revealed to her friends at her birthday party that she had actually gotten married five months ago.
‎She showed them her ring finger and the reactions were everything “Awwnnn!”, tears, hugs, genuine happiness.
‎
‎But this got me thinking…
‎Where do we draw the line between privacy and secrecy, especially when it comes to friendship?

‎And let’s be honest, some of those friends would probably go home and crash out.

‎If you were one of those friends, how would you feel?

‎Would you genuinely be fine with it, or would you feel some type of way?

The older I get, the more I realize that sometimes the prayer isn't, “Lord, change my situation.”
‎
‎Sometimes it is ; ‎“Lord, help me see it correctly.”
‎
‎Because you can have good intentions and still miss what matters.
‎You can be moving and still need direction.
‎You can be right about the destination and wrong about the way you're getting there.
‎
‎So this is my prayer for this season:
‎
‎Lord, don't let me enter a new season with an old level of discernment.
‎
‎May we have the awareness to interpret, the alignment to obey, and the sensitivity to discern.
