🎬 EU FILM FESTIVAL SHOWCASE AT BRITISH COUNCIL 🎬

Catch a glimpse of what’s screening TODAY!

AISHA & MUZAMIL

Directed by Junaid Timtooni Yakubu

Logline:

On her way to deliver food to her sick grandmother, ten-year-old Aisha meets Muzamil, a starving refugee who has lost everything to war. She shares her mangoes with him, but when his hunger turns desperate, a moment of fear sets off events that neither of them can stop. Told in Dagbani, Aisha & Muzamil is about compassion, suspicion, and how quickly society dehumanizes those it sees as outsiders.

✨ Don’t miss this powerful and poignant story on the big screen! Join us at the British Council today for the EU Film Festival screening.

Ghanaian filmmaker @timjooni has been named a 2026 SEED Award recipient by the Prince Claus Fund.

The award provides €5,000 to support emerging artists and cultural practitioners whose work engages with urgent social and political issues in their local contexts.

Based in Tamale, Timtooni is currently developing Maltiti (Build For Us), a Dagbani-language short film about a young woman whose university ambitions are put on hold by her family’s financial circumstances. The project reflects his wider commitment to telling nuanced stories from Northern Ghana.

We’ll be following the journey of Maltiti as it develops.

Follow Timtooni, show your support, and join us in congratulating him on this achievement!

Today’s Film Lab session with @unicefghana Children’s Film Festival was packed with insight.

We opened with a masterclass from @nanaasihene on the pipeline of making a film: story, finance, scheduling, production, post and audience. He was incredibly generous with his knowledge and experience, and I learnt so much.

We closed with a screenwriting masterclass from @ramirabih . He took us from idea to story to character, showed us how to separate what a character wants from what they need, and how to build it all on one spine that lands emotionally with an audience.

We also pitched our projects and got sharp, constructive feedback from Rami on how to express our stories better. I’m grateful to share space with such brilliant filmmakers in this cohort. Looking forward to the next masterclass. by @timjooni

That's a wrap on NABLI. 🎬

We planned a one-day shoot, but Tamale had other plans. The one-day shoot became three Sundays, with downpours each day, but our cast and crew kept showing up, and yesterday, we finally got our last shot.

Shooting in the thick of the market meant sharing the frame and our mics with the market too. Chickens and goats, sound systems, men playing oware, the occasional argument two stalls down, every take was an adventure. All in all, this shoot was quite the experience.

To every cast and crew member who gave their time to this shoot, thank you. You turned a rain-battered, market-crowded shoot into something we actually enjoyed.

Learned a lot on this one. Now we go into the edit. Can't wait to see what it becomes, and can't wait to be back out there for the next one.
