It’s not a matter of us vs. them. When it comes down to it, it’s you vs. you. Who you align yourselves with in the next 5 years is up to you. Forge your own path. Don’t be afraid of change, be only afraid of never having the courage to try something new. You are all destined for greatness, look inward and bring out who the world needs you to be.

Work Hard. Be Kind.

Four simple words.

Yesterday, we kicked off REAL RISE, and one of the things that stuck with me from hearing Neel speak was the importance of knowing what you stand for.

We’ve built a company and a community around a pretty simple belief.

Work Hard. Be Kind.

It’s not complicated.

We show up.
We do the work.
We take care of people.
We celebrate each other’s wins.
We push each other to be better.

And I think that’s what makes our community so special.

Because anyone can put values on a website, a slide deck, or a wall.

But the real test is whether your people actually live them.

And when I look around at the people in this room, that’s exactly what I see.

People who work incredibly hard to build their own businesses, but still make time to pour into others.

People who understand that success doesn’t have to come at someone else’s expense.

People who genuinely want to see the people around them win.

That’s the kind of company I’m proud to help build.

And the kind of community I’m grateful to be part of.

Work Hard. Be Kind.

10 years ago today, I lost my Dad.

It definitely doesn’t feel that long ago.

One thing I’ve learned is that grief is a much longer process than I realized. Sometimes you’re going through it and don’t even know it. It’s not until years later, looking back, that you realize how much you were struggling.

My Dad was a huge part of my life. I have so many great memories of him, but our relationship was complicated. There was a lot of good, and some things that weren’t so great…

After 10 years, I’m grateful I’ve gotten better at separating those two things.

I carry the good stuff with me every day. And I’ve spent a lot of time trying to understand his story. Why he was the way he was, what he went through, and how those things shaped him.

Not to excuse the bad stuff, but to understand it. And hopefully stop carrying some of that weight myself.

Losing someone suddenly, before you think you should, leaves you with a lot of questions.

Things you wish you said. Conversations you wish you had. Things you wish you could go back and fix.

And then there are the little things.

Like watching Alice run a cross country meet and wondering why he doesn’t get to be here to see it.

Those moments still hit me. I don’t think they’ll ever stop.

I’ve come to understand that grief isn’t something you finish. You don’t wake up one day and stop grieving someone you loved.

You just learn to carry it differently.

And I think a big part of that is understanding yourself, understanding the person you lost, and making peace with things you can’t change.

I definitely don’t have it all figured out.

But 10 years later, I do think I carry it better.

I can miss my Dad, love him, be grateful for everything he gave me, and still acknowledge that not everything was perfect.

I can hold on to the good without having to carry all of the bad.

I wish he was here. I wish we had more time. I wish we’d had a few conversations that never happened.

But I’m grateful he was my Dad.

10 years later, I still miss you Dad.

And I’m still figuring it out. by @timmacyrealtor

I’ve always loved taking pictures, but I’ve never felt like I was good at it.

The problem with photography is; the more I get into it, the more I realize how bad I am at it.

But I’m getting better… I think….

The piece I’m working on is just enjoying what comes out of the camera.

I always get frustrated with how I want it to look, but when I pause and look back, it actually ain’t bad! I feel like life is like that sometimes. We get caught up on the vision that we had in our head that, that we don’t enjoy how things unfold, in all its imperfect beauty.

Your network grows. The work of keeping track of it grows with it.
Ask once and it comes back done, in a file you can actually share.Those hours are better spent on the people in the report than on the report itself.
