Today marks the second year since Timmy Toons went digital! While the “official” party is over at Facebook, without that first step who knows where I’d be!

During a recent inspection, the inspector asked me if I knew what imposter syndrome was. Without a moment hesitation I laughed and said “I feel it all day every day!”

Not sure that was the right answer…

When the chips are down and life starts to pummel you in every conceivable way, there an old saying that “it’s not the size of the dog in the fight but the size of the fight in the dog” that truly matters.

I know most of my posts have been a bit more…serious in tone lately. I promise I am ok!

Part of the shift comes from me just having fun with composition in my comics. Just trying something different. Using life’s struggles lends itself well to more dynamic visual storytelling. Put simply, I’m pushing myself artistically.

But life has had its fair share of trials. It never really lets up, as many already know. But sometimes, when the size of the fight in me has dwindled, the storms of life overcome me, the walls close in and the boat starts to sink I remember my favorite Bible verse:

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not be in dread or be dismayed, for Yahweh your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua‬ ‭1‬:‭9‬ ‭LSB‬‬

It’s easy to spiral in worry.

When I was younger, my concerns were things like my grades at school and girls.

Now that I’m older, I have so much more responsibility. And with that responsibility, comes a lot more worry.

I worry (in no particular order) about my wife, my home, my cats, my job, my family, my faith, my comic, my friends, my health…

My mind might fire like a powerful storm…but there’s a quiet in the eye of the twister.

Someone once told me that the work we do feels like we are “bailing a ship while there are holes in the boat and we’re taking on water.” It’s an odd analogy when you’re in the Air Force but it’s definitely how the life of a training manager (my job) feels right now.

And especially after a major inspection. 😖

Early on Sunday morning, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and found that the stone had been rolled away from the entrance. She ran and found Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved. She said, “They have taken the Lord’s body out of the tomb, and we don’t know where they have put him!” Peter and the other disciple started out for the tomb. They were both running, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. He stooped and looked in and saw the linen wrappings lying there, but he didn’t go in. Then Simon Peter arrived and went inside. He also noticed the linen wrappings lying there, while the cloth that had covered Jesus’ head was folded up and lying apart from the other wrappings. Then the disciple who had reached the tomb first also went in, and he saw and believed— for until then they still hadn’t understood the Scriptures that said Jesus must rise from the dead.
