Calo has been watching Earth. 🌎✨

This series is about power, accountability, humanity, and what happens when ordinary people begin questioning where their governments place their priorities, including how public money is spent, foreign policy, immigration enforcement, healthcare, and the struggles happening inside their own communities.

Whatever your beliefs are, pay attention. Research. Question things. Participate in your democracy. And when you vote, make that decision according to your own conscience and the kind of world you want to help create.

Creating this video was also another lesson in working with AI. 😂

AI is an incredible creative tool, but it is definitely not a magic button. I only get 30 seconds per generation, so this conversation had to be created as separate videos and the continuity isn’t perfect. Calo’s eyes have also been challenging because the pupils in my original reference image are extremely dilated. The AI keeps trying to reinterpret them as Calo moves and looks around.

So now I’m learning that I need to create a better reference image with Calo looking directly forward and with the eyes already structured exactly how I want them before generating the next animations.

That’s part of this experiment for me.

I’m not just learning how to animate my characters with AI. I’m learning how to communicate with the technology, what it understands, what confuses it, where it fails, and how much direction it actually takes to turn something from my imagination into something that moves.

Every video teaches me something new.

Calo is evolving right alongside me. 🖤✨

My original paintings are finally available to collect directly through TIMOI. 🖤

For the first time, I’ve created an online portfolio of my available original works at timoi.com, with select pieces also available through my Instagram Shop.

This is my studio practice.

Before the handbags, the characters moving and speaking, the fashion, the murals and everything TIMOI has grown into, there was me alone in a room making art.

I started my journey as a self-taught artist in 1999. I worked in art stores, studied books, experimented with mediums and substrates, asked other artists questions, and went home and painted. I started submitting those paintings to galleries, selling work and taking commissions.

More than 25 years later, I am still painting.

And no matter how many directions my creativity takes me, the studio remains the place where I return to myself.

This is where my soul drifts when I am alone.

My paintings come from my imagination without asking permission from trends, algorithms, themes or what someone else thinks I should be creating. They explore identity, spirituality, gender, emotion, beauty and the strange worlds that have lived inside my head for decades.

That originality matters to me.

When you collect an original TIMOI painting, you aren’t simply purchasing something to decorate a wall. You are acquiring a one-of-one work from an artistic practice I have spent more than two decades developing, a physical piece of my history, my imagination and the larger universe I continue to build.

There will never be another original of that painting.

And this portfolio will continue to grow. I’m in the studio working on new paintings now, and I’ll be adding selected new works as they become available.

Today I turned 46. And I ain’t mad at my life. I still have the same body I had in my twenties and my face card doesn’t decline. I am stronger than ever, wiser, smarter and I have mastered my style. I had to start over from scratch and that wasn’t easy.
And so here I am. At peace and happy at my mastery. I am a master of my craft.

Thank you to those of you who support my art. Consider it an investment because I wasn’t born just to be another artist. I was born to disrupt. I don’t plan for tomorrow, I plan for decades to come. And for where I started, I am happy of where I am because that wasn’t easy. Many in my shoes check out. But I didn’t. And I am continuing my legacy. by @timoibrand

Sometimes moving on quickly isn’t the same as healing.

Distraction can look a lot like happiness from the outside. New attention, new affection, a new person, but whatever we refuse to feel eventually asks to be felt.

Real healing isn’t about who moves on first. It’s about who is willing to sit with themselves long enough to actually grow.

Let people take whatever path they choose.

You take yours. 🖤✨

Día de los Muertos is approaching, and soon many of us will build altars, light candles, place flowers and photographs, and remember the people who existed before us. 🕯️🌼

We think so much about our ancestors.

Their sacrifices.
Their mistakes.
Their strength.
The lives they lived that eventually made ours possible.

But I’ve been thinking about something else lately…

One day, we will be the ancestors.

We are living right now inside someone else’s history.

The choices we make, the things we create, the people we protect, the traditions we preserve, the knowledge we pass down, and even the things we fight to change can reach further into the future than we will ever know.

Maybe legacy isn’t about being remembered by name.

Maybe it’s about leaving behind a world that is a little kinder, wiser, more beautiful, and more free because you were here.

We inherited an unfinished world from those who came before us.

And someday, we will hand it to someone else.

What will we leave them? 🌎✨

There comes a point when you realize being liked by everyone was never the goal.

Be kind.

Be accountable.

Treat people with respect.

But don’t confuse being a good person with making yourself endlessly agreeable, quiet, convenient, or easy to digest.

Some people will love you.

Some people won’t understand you.

Some people simply won’t like you.

And bb doll… life continues. 💅🏽

You don’t have to shrink your personality to make yourself more comfortable for other people.

Jezebel knows exactly who they are.

Meet Jolene. 🚬✨

My newest TIMOI character has officially made her home inside the bathroom at @connectsandiego. 🖤

I spent the week painting this little mural of Jolene standing underneath a spotlight, cigarette in hand, looking cute, mysterious and completely unbothered.

It was an interesting week to bring a character named Jolene into the world. Dolly Parton passed away around the same time I was creating her, and there was already so much sadness happening that week. Jolene wasn’t created because of Dolly, but the timing definitely made me stop and think. Sometimes art enters the world during moments that give it an entirely different feeling.

And can we talk about PAINT BRUSHES?! 😂

I am so used to working with spray paint that painting a mural with brushes reminded me how much harder it can be. The process was slower and definitely tested me a little, but I got it done, and she came out SO CUTE. 💅🏽🚬

While I was there, I also got to check on my TIMOI handbags, and I’m so happy to say the bags are doing great! 👜✨

Thank you again to @connectsandiego for giving TIMOI space not only to sell my work, but now to leave a little piece of my universe on the walls too.
