bikepacking adventure - august edition🌞

3000km by car, 500 kilometres by bike, thousands of acres of beautiful landscape, hundreds of lakes and rivers passed, a great deal of new beautiful memories and one nasty food poisoning later I am back in switzerland. after having spent the past week driving, cycling, sleeping and eating, I have to say that everything beyond basic necessities is just a luxury. a warm shower turns into an unforgettable experience, a good prepared meal into a feast and a sofa into the best bed ever.

over the past years, I grew more and more accustomed to having everything I need every single day. being on the road, whether it be by car or by bike showed me that all of these things, as convenient they might feel, are not really necessary at all. food and water, shelter and sleep are the only things that are truly needed to have a great time. that and friends and acquaintances along the way that make up for all the hardships enchained with the withdrawals of luxury.

a stranger on the road turns loneliness into belonging, a friend into a warm hug and great memories, and unknown people in cities into friends. all that to say that I am truly grateful to have experienced a small portion of this beautiful northern part of europe, and even more so for all the beautiful and kind people that made this trip absolutely unforgettable and as crazy as it was.

Hopefully, I will be back on the bike very soon, for it is truly amazing how much you can see if only you slow down and enjoy the view while travelling. taken in Denmark & Sweden by @timonstalder

summer sparks creativity - july/august edition🌞

what a world we live in. AI taking the world over by storm, heat waves melting our brains and an eerie sense of dread in the air does not call for a good time.

the more important it is to slow down, ease into the beauty of life surrounding us, making our efforts to maintain what is and to develop further what could be. this could be by taking time to honour our feline friends and cuddling with them, no rush at all, or taking a slow walk alongside wonderful rivers, admiring its completeness, letting your mind wander and thereby finding ways to put your creativity into existence. be it by playing an instrument, photographing, writing, drawing or whatever it is that sparks your joy.

all this season asks of you is to not rush, because art cannot be rushed and this world, as doomed as it might see, is still a masterpiece in the making - so make sure you leave a positive and sustainable mark on it. <3 by @timonstalder

life is what you make it - June Edition❤️

as I find myself more and more in tune with what really matters to me, life around me begins to shift as well. spending most of my free time in the great outdoors and enjoying nature's beauty, I am always baffled by the sheer amount of wisdom the universe still hides from me.

while discovering the meaning of life and figuring out my place in this vast sea of consciousness, I stop from time to time to admire this gift of life. I am grateful to call this beautiful planet my home, and I will continue to not only live in it, but to actively try and make it an even better place.

being able to see all of these wonderful places is a privilege that I unfortunately forget about sometimes, so this post is not solely about the appreciation of my surroundings, but also a call to action.

if you feel like there's something that you can do to better the world, go out and do it. life's too short to be wasted away by worry and anxiety, a fact that I need to remind myself of every single day.

As always, none of this would be possible or at least not as fun as with my lovely people with whom I share this unique experience.❤️ by @timonstalder

Photo Dump - May Edition❤️

Life in the philippines is just beyond words :)

Alongside with so so soooo many great people from all around the globe, it makes it easy to fall deeply in love with this magical place. Every island is different, has its own charm and its own vibe that only waits to be discovered. Be it on the beaches of Palawan, where cute little jellyfishes are a mandatory part of surfing lessons, deep in the caves of the underwater river, in Cebu, where trusting your life with the many bikers is a once-in-a-lifetime experience (especially when a little tipsy) or in the more than questionable waterpark adjacent to the hotel, in the numerous lagoons and lakes around Moalboal, on top of mountains while looking at indescribable sunsets or in the depths of the enchanted waters of Siquijor, the Philippines are incomprehensibly beautiful and magnificent.❤️

While being here, I managed to ride my bike into a wall with just a tiny scratch and a huge shock, learned how to properly ride a bike on my second try with some help from locals, missed a flight while standing in front of the open gate, did a frontflip from a cliff into a crystal clear river, tried coconut wine, and most importantly: managed to fulfill my mission of becoming certified in open water diving, something I have been thinking about for so long already. Unfortunately, there is no footage of me swimming next to a giant turtle, so you just gotta believe me on this one🤭

But what baffles me the most are the infinite numbers of heartfelt conversations with locals, where I try to understand more about the filipino culture and its quirks, and falling more and more in life with this community-centered lifestyle, where ones own identity is deeply engrained in the heart of the surrounding people.🫂

"Du hast es in den Händen" - April Edition❤️

Das Leben läuft in schnellen Bahnen. Manchmal brauch' ich nen Moment, bis ich wieder nen klaren Kopf hab', bis ich wieder weiss, wo ich bin und wer ich bin. Es tut gut, Freunde um mich herum zu wissen, mit denen alles einfach einfacher fällt, mit denen sich die Stunden wie Sekunden anfühlen, mit denen ich mich komplett fühle.

Auf und davon - March Edition.❤️

Es läuft gut.😝😝😝
Zwischen Konzerten in Deutschland Bärn und Züri, Gesprächen mit Promis, nächtlichen Museumsbesuchen, Brunch und Rotz-Memes erstellen finde ich immer mal wieder Zeit, die eine oder andere Katze zu streicheln und mich der Schönheit des Lebens zu ergötzen. Zwei Bücher habe ich gelesen im letzten Monat, eine Bilanz, die ob der ständigen Dauerbeschallung durch die "sozialen" Medien ansehnlich ist, wenngleich sie nach wie vor zu wünschen übrig lässt.

Nichtsdestotrotz bleib' ich dran und geniesse die Übergangszeit zum Sommer mit meinen friendos. Denn wie einst ein weiser Mann sagte '@migros e Genosseschaft, will mes nur mit sine Genosse schafft'🧡

snow appreciation - february edition.❤️

with this year's season slowly but surely coming to an end for now, I want to pause for a second and take in all these beautiful moments that made my winter on the snowboard unforgettable. So here's me reminiscing:

when I was little, I was convinced that life would stop being exciting once I turn 27. I don't know why, but this thought wandered around my mind every single day.

I am 28 now and so glad to say that I was wrong. life doesn't stop being exciting once you turn a certain age. instead, it stops being exciting once you stop exploring, going ever so slowly beyond your own limitations, and challenge your beliefs. :)

I've been on the board for 17 years now. every single time I get on it, I feel this freedom, this liberty, this feeling of flying.

As a teenager, I would duck down and speedrun down that slope like a madman, no turns, just straight lining. I don't do that as often anymore. I learned to appreciate the slow turns, the carving, the feeling of all the sensations this beautiful sport gives me.

because as much as snowboarding is about speed, it is also a sport of creativity. to switch sides, to go slower, then faster again, to jumping over smaller hills to appreciating the view on cat tracks. it is all part of it, it is art in motion.

so instead of straight lining down the slope, I take longer, more playful turns, appreciating the beauty of it all. (and sometimes, just for the hell of it, speeding up on a black diamond so that teenage me won't get too mad🤭😂)

and all of this wouldn't be as much fun as it is when you are in good company. so to everybody that has been a part of this year's first half of the season, I love you so much, I love the shared moments and the laughters we had together.<3 by @timonstalder

life gets amazing when you spend it in the mountains

what started only as an idea the day before, turned out to be one of the most random days I've had for a long time.

those who know me well also know that I am always full of surprises. but even I wouldn't have guessed what was about to happen on this last wednesday.

initially I just wanted to catch some sunrays and try out my new @fujifilm_ch camera on the @maennlichen, overviewing the beautiful panorama on Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. However, I went on this smaller walk to the top, and met some really great people from northern england, a nice guy from a town not far from where I grew up and his lovely dog, and in the end, I had the chance to randomly fulfill a dream of mine in a matter of 5 minutes. together with @green_paragliding I flew down to Interlaken, admiring the beautiful landscape. I was even able to steer the paraglider, a very strange but amazing feeling.

honestly, I couldn't have had a better way to start off my year. I am eager to see what more this year has to offer to me. taken in Männlichen by @timonstalder

whatever you chase in this life, chase it fully.

this was hands down one of the most beautiful moments of my whole journey. sitting there on this rock and watching the sun slowly descending, I really felt at peace. Hearing the waves crashing, seeing the birds fly over my head, I couldn't hold back my smile. Thanks South Africa.

sometimes in life, horrible and unpredictable things happen and you don't have any control over it. you just have to sit there and watch how every little thing you've built up slowly disappears and falls apart. things change, people leave and you will feel sad and lonely every now and then. you gotta pretend to be okay even though you're not. you try to be strong, you try to stand against everything life is throwing at you but in the end, sometimes, you break. but not because you're too weak, but because you just can't hold your shield up and protect yourself anymore. and that's the point where you realise that life often is a gift, but sometimes it just wants to see how often you can get up after being beaten down. so, take my advice and get up one more time than you've been beaten down by life, even if it means getting up a hundred times. taken in Ruine Frohburg by @timonstalder
