Such a beautiful thing returning to dance and moving my body again like this. Been hard at work in silence the last few years and grateful to share. God is good 🥹🙏🏽. Also choreo cred to Nico O’Connor. Also this was a little over a year ago! 😱 by @timothytristan

Today we got the opportunity to honor the great Shirley Martin through a legacy workshop put on by The Martin Dancers. “Shirley’s decades long generational dance company”. Since 1985 she has been training, educating and creating a safe space for artists of all genres, cultures, backgrounds, ages, bodies, and hearts. Shirley was a 2nd generation Lester Horton student and our mentor and teacher making all of us 3rd generation horton students, proteges and legacy holders. Horton technique, dance drama, upbeat was her style accompanied by live music, singing, call and response, drama 🎭, art, culture. This workshop was to honor her passing from 2 years ago. To share with each other and the world her name, memory and LEGACY. Thank you Shirley we love you and miss you so much. 🕊️ Her studio is closed now MKM Cultural Arts Center. But stay tuned for seasonal workshops to learn from @groundedlivingspaces . Thank you Glor for bringing us all together and @livartdance for housing us and this special occasion 🩷💐 taken in Mkm Cultural Arts Center by @timothytristan
