💥DUBCAT💥 Cool story, David Fuentes use to tease me about the Lil Sony Video Cameras that I filmed with all the time, he'd even send me text messages asking me when I was going to finally step up to a man's camera🤣David would also tell me my Lenz Caps were still on the Cameras🤣sure miss that Man🥹 David always made me feel welcomed to shoot, I drove from Perris to San Francisco to film DUBCAT and Jack meet me outside and brought me into The INDEPENDENT but had some business to tend to so David gave me a quick tour of the green room and introduced me to all the guys I already knew lol but he thought it would be funny I guess. What a great Guy He was.
THESE ARE FORMER MEMBERS OF @officialhepcat and of the @longbeachduballstars we had Jesse Wagner from @theaggrolites on vocals Opie Ortiz a main singer with Jack but Opie was unable to make this show, we have Jack Maness on Volcals and guitar and keys, David "Bassie" Fuentes on Bass, Tim Wu on Sax & Volcals, Marshall Goodman on Drums, Destin Berry on Keys & Volcals Kendo on Guitar and back up Volcals , what a mixture of some AllStar Guys with great chemistry that produced great music. Look up some Dubcat music if you can, it's worth adding to your library. Not much out there but you may be able to score something, I was blessed to be able to film some of their shows.

On our latest episode of the History of LA Ska: One On One Sessions, we have the pleasure of talking with seven alumni of Pocket Lent. These talented musicians include Joel Elsten (trombone), Mike Long (bass), Justin Sears (drums), Todd Simon (trumpet), Ian Souter (trumpet), Tavis Werts (trumpet), and Tim Wu (sax, vocals).

Regrettably, Gil Sharone (drums) and Antoine Arvazu (Mambo Studios, The Compound) were unable to join us for this special episode due to scheduling conflicts.

Here are some cool photos of these gifted musicians, including with the brotherly duo, Ikey Owens (keys) and Aaron Owens (guitar), who passed away far too young.

Who’d have guessed that meeting these jokers back in ‘95 (recording at Gilmore Music LB) would have begun a 20yr relationship of friendship and record making with Ikey, Aaron, and the rest of the fellas now and again. Yup, it’s true that our lives cross with intention-follow your heart and your loving cup will overflow.
I had planned to be part of this interview, but business got in the way! Gil missed it too, that’s him drumming on the Bankshot track @gilsharone with @ikeyowens rockin the #eventideh3000 sampler of
@skaparade radio interview!

On Episode 101 of HISTORY OF LA SKA: ONE ON ONE SESSIONS hosted by JUNOR FRANCIS, we bring together seven alumni of POCKET LENT, the veteran ska-jazz-punk-funk-reggae fusion group from the ‘90’s: JOEL ELSTEN, MIKE LONG, JUSTIN SEARS, TODD SIMON, IAN SOUTER, TAVIS WERTS, and TIM WU.

The talent pool in Pocket Lent was truly impressive, and the groups these musicians went on to play with are simply astounding.

Brothers Ikey and Aaron Owens are frequently mentioned throughout this interview. It quickly became evident the immense love, appreciation, and respect that the guys held for their friends and founding members.

This conversation was particularly special, and we’re certain you’ll agree.
