You are one of the greatest blessings in my life.

Sameera, I genuinely don’t think there are words that can capture how amazing, beautiful, smart, and loving you are. From the moment we met, I knew we’d be forever friends, soul sisters as you like to call it, attached at the hip. We just understood each other without speaking, spent hours talking without getting bored, and loved living life together.

Just over a month ago, my beautiful best friend left us unexpectedly. Today, she would’ve turned 23.

Some things that I simply adore about you: You’re easy to love, endlessly ambitious, and so unapologetically yourself. You are also one of the smartest person I know. Who could say they are a double major in neuroscience and psychology with a chem minor?? You also built Pitt’s chapter of Omega Phi Alpha from zero to 80+ members. You pour your love into everything you do, decorating, spoiling your adorable cat Ziggy, learning, creating, and just living fully.

Some of Sameera’s fav things: Your favorite anime is One Piece, and you’ve watched it twice from start to finish. Your favorite flowers are Birds of Paradise, your favorite color is that exact perfect teal, and your music taste is unmatched—Still Woozy, Mac Miller, Ariana Grande, Sabrina Carpenter. Your nails were always slaying.

I miss you more than words can describe. Stealing each other’s food, borrowing clothes, hair products, shoes, matching credit card covers, matching stuffed animals, matching perfume.. probably more that I am forgetting

There are so many things we never got to do. Living in connected mansions with a bridge and a Dexter squishmallow statue, double dates, dancing in the rain, cabin trips. I’d give anything to hug you one more time. I love living life with you and I am forever grateful for the last 5 years of spending practically every day together, being best friends, and soul sisters.

Happy 23rd, Sameera. I wouldn’t change a thing about our friendship.

Pitt became so much more than a school to me—it became a second home. To the friends, sisters, mentors, and faculty who supported me every step of the way, thank you for shaping these last four years into something unforgettable. From the late nights to the lifelong memories, I’ll carry this chapter with me always. As a first-gen student, this journey has meant more than I can ever explain.
