POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
1. Pride Month starts tomorrow and I’ve written about allyship before, but I was reminded this week why it’s so important to keep talking about it. I thought I would share a few things.

2. We visited a friend at her new apartment on a local farm and ran into the farmer and some of his crew walking across the property. He was wearing a baseball hat with a Pride pin on it and we commented to our friend how great it was and she told us he is always wearing it. He posts a lot of videos about the farm online and it’s a prominent feature. A quiet, simple, powerful example of allyship.

3. @wkamaubell posted on his Substack this week about a synagogue in his neighborhood that he had written about 2 years ago when he took this photo. He shared his curiosity about how they came to the decision to hang these signs of allyship, “Maybe they were quick conversations or maybe they took weeks to decide, but in the end these symbols of acceptance, ideological clarity, and loving hospitality were proudly exhibited.”

4. I have supported @trevorproject for years. Their guide to allyship is one reason why. Link in my bio to read it and consider how and why and when you might show up for the LGBTQ+ community—not just in June (although that’s a great first step!!)—but all year round.

In 2016, the day after the Pulse shooting, our next door neighbor hung a confederate flag on his house. We were devastated. But quietly and without any conversation, 5 or 6 other neighbors hung Pride flags. What a gift! They gave us a sense of safety and courage to move through the following days without fear.

Imagine if every queer person was faced with a sea of rainbows from the moment they came out (or came out of their houses!!). Imagine if every parent, sibling, son, daughter, grandparent, aunt, uncle, cousin, niece, nephew, grandchild, friend, and neighbor of every queer person displayed overt identifying symbols of their allyship on their homes, cars, businesses, and clothing. The overwhelming sense of safety and trust would turn the tide of fear and hate and change the whole world. I am sure of it.

Happy Pride, everyone. Be a good ally. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ by @tingle

When you don’t know what else to do with your hands and your heart is wrung out and fear is humming in your bones and you can’t look away from the photos and you can’t stop listening to the stories even though it’s all too much—you share the words of the poets to soothe yourself.
Maybe they will soothe someone else tonight, too.

Grief and gratitude rolled up into one amazing weekend at Open Door @haystack_school I was thrilled to sink deep into beginner’s mind in the small metals shop and learn so many new techniques from the warm and wonderful @venetiadale
And so grateful to my talented inspiring studio mates for holding my grief so tenderly. What a gift to feel Lizzie everywhere around me.

It’s been a week since you woke to your last sunrise, Lizzie. I’m still reeling and unsteady. Still in disbelief that you are gone. I found you this week in the little girl and her sparkly skirt twirling next to the pond; in the song at the grocery store and a package of granola; hovering around the rainbow Friday night. I heard you in Nan’s story, saw you waving to me from the full moon, in the chickadee on the bird feeder, saw you in your niece’s face, and in a thousand photographs I can’t stop sifting through. I know you are part of every sunrise now. I will love you with a love that never ends. by @tingle

I thought I would have the words by now. But I don’t. It was an honor and a privilege to walk you every step of the way into whatever comes next. I love you, Lizzie Lou. Always and forever.

The last few weeks slipped by so quickly. There were high highlights and low low lowlights, but let me just float on a river of happiness today.

I start every single morning with Dolly. She has been this weird light in my life as long as I can remember. Since first hearing her as a toddler on an 8-track tape. Since 9 to 5 showed me a different kind of feminist power. Since Islands in the Stream and I Will Always Love You and Coat of Many Colors and Jolene. Since she uplifted the AIDS quilt and became the biggest champion of LGBTQ+ rights and allyship in the world. As @brandicarlile said, she took a risk and accepted (all of us) for being gay in a time where she didn’t need to say anything.” I texted a friend last night that her death is really breaking my heart, not because it was too soon, but because she was such a force of nature. The world seems a lot less bright. Thanks for showing us the way, Dolly. RIP The rest of us are gonna have to shine a little harder without you. 💔✨💛 by @tingle

When the night ends with a tiny table concert for 5 in a stone hut on top of a hill—you can’t believe your luck and you feel so much love for the world and you wish it could always be this way for everyone everywhere.
Thanks to @hotsuppers for the music and @coastal_mountains_land_trust for the stage and Mother Earth for the magic show. taken in Beech Hill Preserve by @tingle

Absolute joy being part of this exhibition at @reversing_falls_sanctuary_ where adult artists were paired with child artists and we created work inspired by their art!!! Brilliant and moving to see all of the pieces together in one space. Grateful to Hazel and Nellie for being my collaborators. I really loved what they did with toilet paper! I had to turn it into a cloud.

This piece surprised me. I honestly didn’t know what it was “saying” until I photographed it and something about looking through another lens gave me the distance from my own artwork that I needed to recognize this work is about miscarriage. Over 20 years later, the losses we suffered still linger and grief can still pack an extraordinary punch. ❤️

Our twelfth anniversary today feels precious, maybe it’s the volatility of the world, maybe it’s aging, maybe it’s the number itself. Number 12 resonates strongly with themes of structure and cyclical intelligence:

• Wholeness and completion
• Cycles, seasons, and sacred timing
• Integration of opposites
• Order without rigidity
• Transformation through patience rather than force

All of that feels true of this relationship, the place we stand after 12 years of marriage—solid, harmonious, supportive, curious, steadfast, collaborative, devoted.

Happy 12 years, my love. by @tingle
