We often forget that none of us are promised tomorrow. So, when something like a cancer diagnosis hits, it’s especially scary and hard, bringing all sorts of terrifying questions to mind. For Amanda Feliz @tinkfeliz, she was determined to face her own battle against breast cancer with positivity. No matter how much pain and fear she went through, she focused on the small moments with an attitude of gratitude to keep going. Then, years later, Amanda determined to write a memoir about her whole experience to help and encourage others. Once she got into the details and started putting together pages and pages of material, however, she felt stuck. Like many authors, Amanda was too close to her own story and needed outside assistance to bring it all together. That’s where Elizabeth’s Writing Corner stepped in, bringing the coaching needed so Amanda could finish her writing journey and move on to publishing. It was still not an easy process, taking time and energy to deal with emotions that cropped up every time she stepped back into the story of her struggle. Today, Amanda’s book “Help! My Boob is Sick!” tells the story of how one survivor saw beyond the pain, tears, and endless treatments to discover moments that brought her joy, strength, and courage to keep going. Amanda brings her real self, both the serious and the funny, the put together and the messy, and shares the overall message that, no matter what tough times you are going through, there is always hope for each new day! No matter where you are in the process, let this story inspire you to keep going! For even more encouragement, pick up Amanda’s book through your favorite online distributor, or check out the Amazon link in the comments. I already had done so much testing. The port had been placed in me and was ready to go. It was time to start my cancer treatments. I was so scared! 12 years ago today, I was going to have my first chemo treatment. I tried to be brave and strong for my children, family and friends but inside I was petrified. How is this chemo going to make me feel? Am I going to be sick? Will I feel it right away? Will I feel it going in my body? What were the long term effects going to be? Will I lose my hair right away? That morning, my son, who was 9 at the time, surprised me with a sign that he made. I took it with me to my first chemo treatment and it gave me hope! It reminded me that I am strong and will fight this! I not only fought it, I wrote a book about my journey! Go have a read! I can’t believe that it has been 12 years since I got the phone call that changed my life forever!! My heart was pounding as I slowly answered the phone when I saw MGH calling. Hello I answered - it was the same nurse that was with me 2 days prior when she told me I needed a biopsy! Her words pierced through my ears with a blow to the gut. “You have breast cancer” I immediately burst into tears. I was in disbelief. I was devastated. The questions that flooded my brain for the next few days were intense and saddening. Was I going to live or die? What about my kids? My job? What about all my belongings if I die? was I going to lose my hair? I couldn’t stop. how did I find the strength to go on? because y’all know it’s a lot easier to quit and let life do what ever it wants with you. Want to know more…get a copy of the book or attend an event 😍 https://a.co/d/0fhaTqUe by @tinkfeliz
