I need everyone I know to care about what happened to CYRUS as though it happened to a child you love and feel obligated to protect. I need everyone to care, because he deserved a full and joyful life. He deserved dignity. He deserved fun happiness and safety. His life was absolutely priceless. Yet once again, no one is being held accountable for his murder, and the parents of black and brown children continuously and relentlessly forced further down the rabbit hole of apathy and grief, and into a stagnant bog of perpetual anxiety and fear that ALL of our children will be misunderstood, presumed malicious, unjustly adultified at any given stage in their youth, and villainized and seen as a threat for simply existing while melanated. I am Joanie‘s savage daughter… it’s been almost 15 years since she passed. She was called “Purple Hair Art Woman” by the children she taught art to. She always wore a straw hat carried a glass bottle of natural well water she hiked to retrieve herself (with drops of essential oil oils in it), a gigantic denim purse filled with healthy natural snacks, an art pad, colored pencils, messy pastels and molding clay… She took it everywhere with her. EVERYWHERE! I’ve been thinking about her a lot lately, missing her deeply… so to soothe my symptoms of yearning and grief, I’ve thrown on her jewelry today, and dawned myself head to toe in denim. Her turquoise always makes me feel centered, like it’s impossible for me to be alone because she’s always right here with me. And not just her but generations of savage warrior women before her as well. And one day… One day, this turquoise will be my daughter’s, and the cycle of savage daughters continues, for as many generations the creator sees fit. taken in Sedona Desert by @tinoweeno

BACK TO MAKING THE VEGETARIAN SAUSAGE AT FAKE MURDER CAMP @criminalminds this week and overjoyed I have a job with such delights. @micheleinmakeup got me this truly ridiculous fantastic creature and @tinoweeno morning time and Erica Messer boss lady of grace and @innovativeartists @jonathan_howard61 @dara_finkel got me first day of work flowers. 🌏 ☁️🔥💧… I’m grateful. The 40’s are a solid place. I wouldn’t want to go back to any younger version of myself, regardless of if I was “better” back then in any given way... I want to get better in different ways… in aging mature seasoned marinated solid types of ways. I don’t want to take living and getting older for granted. I want to more so and more so, see aging for the gift that it is. TIME. Aging is a lot of things. Some things good and some things challenging. But it most importantly means you get more time with the people you love. I have the sneaking suspicion that the 50s will be even better… and the 60’s so on and so forth as long as I get to be here. (side note and disclaimer: This does not mean I’m going to stop coloring my silver hair yet, and I’m positive I will absolutely be going on HRT if I have access to it when the time comes that I need it 😎) by @tinoweeno
