Dave Brubeck Quartet — Take Five эта композиция легла в основу проекта. Название переводится как “Держи пять”, но также является фразеологизмом, означающим “передохни” и отсылкой к нестандартному музыкальному размеру 5/4. Эта музыка существует уже много лет, но загадочно не устаревает, вдохновляет, дает сил и максимально соответствует своему названию. Ощущение, которым хочется делиться. Что может сделать художник, как выглядит эта музыка? Вглядываясь в общее изображение, можно разглядеть отдельных персонажей и их инструменты, а в музыке это прицельное внимание сопоставляется с соло внутри главной темы. Ломаному ритму соответствуют угловатые формы, яркие цвета символизируют открытость и новаторство, ссылаясь на экспериментальные 5/4. Резюме: мир удивителен. Границ между сферами искусства не существует — музыку можно увидеть, изображение — услышать, и осознание этого факта предоставляет огромное поле возможностей. Да будет звук, да будет цвет и да будет веселье!

Этот проект важный и большой для меня. Совершенно не из-за его физического размера, а от того, как многое он открыл — новые идеи, шквал вдохновения и, самое ценное, невероятных людей. Спасибо команде @stenograffia за то, что этот проект состоялся и за то, что вы делаете этот мир ярче, целую всю команду в обе щеки. Маша @maria__kirpicheva , спасибо тебе — сердце переполняется счастьем от осознания, что дети попадают в руки того, кому небезразлично! Take five, guys!!

P.S.: совсем скоро 1 сентября. Невероятно интересно узнать реакцию детей на новый облик их школы. Надеюсь, им понравится 🎸🎷🥁

Something I’m exited to share ✨

This year at @pictoplasma in Berlin, on the Attendee Stage, I’ll share a behind-the-scenes look at creating Kodee — a mascot for the Kotlin programming language.

Kodee turns 5 this year, which feels like a good reason for a little retrospective celebration.

Today feels like a small celebration 🖤

I’ve finally finished this personal illustration fully, the one I’ve been (not) working on for three years.

Since 2021 I didn’t want to draw anything for various reasons. In 2023 while recovering from a prolonged depression, I dyed my hair pink to cheer myself up (turns out even that pink looked tired, not rebellious as intended) and went to Pictoplasma in Berlin to sync with the creative world. I listened to the talks, still a bit distantly, and drew in my notebook. I felt inspired in general, but also incapable of creating anything myself. I drew this sketch, that’s how my inability to create felt at the time.

Another year passedand not much had changed. At some point, I decided to stop forcing myself with the constant “should.” In 2025 I rented a desk in a studio, and that became a big boost. I don’t go there often, maybe once a week, sometimes even once a month, but even that kind of regularity pulled me out of hibernation. It’s nice to remember why you love drawing in the first place, and keep only one goal in mind — simply to wake up an appetite for the process.

And now it’s 2026. Yesterday I finally finished this illustration, something that could have been done in a weekend I guess. Yet it feels just right, like returning to your own skin after a long time of wandering lost taken in Amsterdam, Netherlands by @tinstwin
