Today we’re going to be doing a mix breakdown for a tune by artist Tinyade. @tinyade.s

The song is called Sin’dzaleka, it’s available now, on her full album ‘The Forgiving Years’.

During my chat with Tinyade, she mentioned how the Artist Oumou Sangaré is one of her biggest inspirations, especially for this song.

My involvement in this song began with Tinyade sending over 3 references for the vibe she wanted for this mix.

Oumou Sangaré - Saa Magni
- begins with Bowed strings, and slowly introduces some plucked Strings, and guitar swell
- very Sparse percussion, slowing building through the arrangement
- lush and layered vocal chants supporting a lead vocal

Peter Mawanga - Manganje interlude
- Plucked percussion, (Kalimba)
- Dry Vocals, lots of proximity
- Slowing Building Percussion
- Vocal Counter melody to the Lead, that slowly turns into a layer chant

Plan - Praise Umali
- More Pop sounding vocal
- Strong Drum Beat using the Trésillo SoCa rhythm,
- develops to include more vocals and some horns as well
- Buried Guitar Arpeggios

If you are looking to have your songs mixed send me a DM or reach out to me at backburnerstudios.ca.

I would love to hear what you’re working on and help you achieve the vision of your songs.

Weight Resistance by Tinyade

This is the second song on my debut album titled ‘The Forgiving Years.’ It was the first song off the album that I recorded by myself and I remember being alone in the studio saying “there’s so many cords, buttons and options”, confused on how the interface worked and wondering if this song was even finished, I just recorded it like 15 minutes before the studio closed. It was around 9PM I think and I only did one take😬I definitely learned a lot about recording etc but it took a funny, beautiful story to get there so I just wanted to share. If you haven’t yet, stream my debut album The forgiving years on Spotify, YouTube, Apple Music, iheartradio, deezer and all other platforms you can think of!! Let me know what your favorite lyric from this song is too :) Peace
