First and foremost, thank you God for covering me, carrying me, and giving me strength through every season. Thank you to my family, friends, mentors, and village for every prayer, sacrifice, word of encouragement, and act of love throughout these four years. On May 9th at 2 p.m., I will graduate from THEE illustrious North Carolina A&T State University.

This degree represents blood, sweat, tears, resilience, faith, and perseverance. But more than anything, it represents the love and sacrifices of the people who helped shape me into the woman I am today.

I dedicate this moment to my grandparents thank you for every lesson, every prayer, every ounce of love and support you poured into me. Although “PearlyMayy,” you both are not here physically, I know spiritually you are cheering me on louder than ever.

Grandma, one of the last things you told me was that you would try to make it to my graduation. Papa, we always talked about the day “Dr. Horton” would be written on my badge. Because of you both, I owe it to myself to keep going and see every goal through to the end.

As Grandma always said: God can and God will.

Through the grace of God, I am officially an alumna of the #1 public HBCU in the world, North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University.

To Barnes Hall and the Biology Department, thank you for giving me a forever family I never knew I needed. The laughs, the tears, the lunch breaks, the field trips, the events every moment is something I will cherish forever. From making connections and networking to gaining new mentors, you all gave me a place I could truly call home. And what happens in the office stays in the office… LOL. “If you know, you know.” For that, I am forever grateful.

Thank you to every single person who left an impact on my life. This is not goodbye forever this is simply thank you. Know that my love and appreciation for each of you runs deep, always.

NC A&T, thank you for the memories, lessons, growth, and Aggie Pride that I will carry forever.

I am extremely proud to announce that I will be continuing my medical journey at Meharry School of Medicine, where I will be obtaining my Master’s in Health Science.

Watch out, MD… I’m almost there, and I’m coming for you with full force! 🥹🧠🥳💙💛

Dear my lovely 1891,

Choosing North Carolina A&T State University was more than choosing a college it was stepping into purpose, legacy, and the plan God had for me all along. My college journey first began with uncertainty, thinking my path would start elsewhere. But God had a bigger and better plan, rerouting my decision and guiding me to North Carolina A&T State University an institution with deep history and family ties.

At first, I was reluctant to follow in my family’s footsteps, but now I proudly embrace becoming an Aggie woman. What I love most about this university is honestly everything. It means so much to continue a legacy rooted in excellence, strength, and Aggie pride.

There are truly so many memories that have helped shape my experience here for the better. I remember attending GHOE from time to time as a little girl seeing so many people of color who looked like me, surrounded by blue and gold, hearing laughter in the air, and smelling that good ole southern food. I didn’t know then that one day this place would become home.

Over these four years, this illustrious institution has given me unforgettable experiences, endless opportunities, valuable lessons, and lifelong friendships that became family. Through every challenge and every victory, A&T helped shape me into the woman I am today. The growth I’ve experienced here has truly been life-changing.

I am forever grateful, thankful, and filled with an abundance of joy for everything this journey has given me. Thank you for pouring into me, believing in me, and preparing me for everything ahead. I will carry Aggie pride with me forever.
