Translation below..

I first met him when he showed up—as a fellow billiards player—at the studio of a painter I was visiting for a shoot. We happened to leave the studio at the same time, and with the weather feeling just like the start of summer, we decided to grab a quick beer together at a nearby bar. The charming young man, who introduced himself as Tio from Boston, was a painter himself.

Apparently, he had moved to New York four years ago. He asked if I’d like to visit his studio, as he was creating work for a solo exhibition at a gallery on a small island in Maine—scheduled for late June. When I visited the studio later, he showed me the finished pieces: depictions of nature, people, and animals rendered in soft colors. The outlines were all indistinct, yet powerful. He grew up surrounded by books in a household where his father was a teacher; this environment nurtured his imagination, and he became passionate about drawing from an early age. However, he majored in communication studies at university and reportedly never considered becoming a painter. As his university life progressed, he began to question his studies, eventually dropping out and—relying on family connections—His stay in Verona, Italy, changed his life. After spending over a month creating art in a local artist’s studio, he began to view the path of “living as a painter” as a genuine possibility for the first time. Subsequently, he traveled across the United States—creating accessories and drawings along the way—while deeply engaging with the subjects he wished to depict. For him, travel is not merely about moving from place to place; it is a creative act that expands the boundaries of his preconceived notions. As he left the studio, he happily mentioned, “You have to take a boat to reach the gallery for this exhibition.” It certainly sounds like it will be a wonderful show. by @tiosven

My first show “Lobster Charmer” opens this Sunday. I can’t wait to show this group of paintings I’ve worked on this past year. All of the work is ready to leave NYC and go to a small island off the coast Maine. So many of my “Art giants” reign from Maine and to be showing my first show there means the world. by @tiosven
