〰️ I had never seen a StellarJay before. Such beautiful birds, and they are such characters! This particular one kept coming to knock on the window where we were staying. We were told he was used to being fed peanuts, so of course we had to accomodate the poor guy. This look he was giving me was the same as when he was peeking in the window wondering where his peanuts were! 〰️

〰️ The whole family. I didn't realize they had such strong family ties and all live together in a pod. Loved learning about them, and feel so lucky we got to spend so much time getting a glimpse into their world. 〰️

〰️ Considered a sacred messenger by Native Americans, bald eagles are believed to connect humans to the spiritual realm. I like that. My Dad loved all birds & really loved the big birds. He could spot them like no other, always called them "big boys". He could replicate the call of any bird, as he was unbeievably talented at whistling. They always answered him. In the years since losing Dad, we've all had some amazing visits by the big boys. Alaska was no exception. A connection for sure.〰️

〰️ To do life with a lab is to know how nosy they are...& how cute their happy hops are when you get home from work. You can't keep them out of the water....& once there, they dont want to leave. Sticks and balls rule, and if it has stuffing, it won't last 5 minutes. You have to share your food, put up with wet kisses & they love to go. Anywhere. They hate the sight of suitcases unless they're already sitting in the car, they love cats & make a bigger mess with their toys than the kids do. They have a heart of gold, love everybody (except the UPS guy), and are too smart for their own good. I can't imagine life without them. ❤️ taken in Dubois, Wyoming by @tisharaes4
