"A Southern gal and Waffle House truther, Tishon Pugh (b. 1997) is your typical Gen Z film buff, moonlighting as a functional member of society. In the past years, Tishon has served as a programmer/juror at numerous festivals, including Palm Springs Intl’ FF, Nashville FF, New Orleans FF, and Tribeca FF. She gained her start in the festival world as a programming fellow with the Outfest Fusion FF and the Athena FF, both in the program's inaugural years. She prefers to explore more comical themes in her work and has dubbed herself a “funny girl”. 1) watching First Nation dancers perform in the sun was quite beautiful.
2) EARTH WIND AND FIRE! camera is groovin’ cause i was. literally one of my favorite bands ever.
3) “I think it pisses God off if you walk by the color purple in a field somewhere and don’t notice it.”
4) a neighbor hosing off festival goers. how cute.
5) was walking home and saw this tree. I squatted down to get a picture and the lady walking behind me giggled and took a picture too.

I’ve kept this a little tight to the chest because i have this fear it’ll disappear somehow if i talk too much about it but secretly I’ve been wanting to scream it from the rooftops so here goes: I’m going back to school.

Come fall, I’ll pack up my beaten but loyal Toyota Camry and spend a few weeks with my loved ones back home before jetting off to Edinburgh, Scotland where I’ll spend a year studying film curation and obtain a masters degree from the University of Edinburgh.

It’s been a whirlwind year already, slowing getting rid of my things and grieving New Orleans even though i still live here. I’ve built such a special life here but i learned it’s best to leave the party while you’re still having fun (somewhat). I’ve spent so much time helping others achieve their career aspirations that i have very little left in my cup and I desperately need this opportunity to truly give myself the space i crave to dream and just….be.

i want to thank @chillicharlie22 for holding my hand every step of the way & @zain.hashmat for being with me the day i found out and taking pictures of me reading my acceptance letter and crying in a cafe (not pictured) & @autumnrennej for inspiring me and reading all my essay drafts & @tylrmntg for seeing me when i couldn’t see myself.

I don’t know what the future holds but hopefully it’s filled with a lot of good movies, beautiful people and adventures to add to my already unbelievable self lore. by @tishonpugh
