Steven Christopher Barrier would have been celebrating his 30th birthday this month. Instead, his life was ruthlessly stolen by the hands of Stamford, Connecticut police on his 23rd birthday, 7 years ago. What’s supposed to be a day of celebration, turned into a nightmare for his family. In response, officials failed to hold those involved accountable & assisted in covering up what happened. Steven did not deserve this. He was an aspiring artist who loved skateboarding. He was a college student. Our stories of who we are rarely ever told in the media when police murder us— only justifying why police murder us by deeming us violent, defaming us as reason to withhold accountability. Steven was going through a mental health crisis & instead of SPD assisting him through it, they abused him emotionally: treating him like an animal. SPD physically injured him in ways that resulted to his fatal death, never rendering him aide as he beg for help SPD being aware of his visible needs to medical treatment as a result of their abuse. We see how officials especially @mayorcarolinesimmons whom have refrained from sharing vital body camera for this that would expose a taser was used on him. We KNOW a taser was deployed as we have shared the proof from Steven’s residence of ring camera footage. Steven had no history of heart issues, even getting a physical a month before he was killed revealing this too. Steven has history with abuse from SPD that his mother even reported prior to October 23, 2019, the day he was murdered. He deserved so much more. So many years, dreams & things he deserved to experience were stolen from him and his family. The blatant disregard to his story, published lies and coverup expose an even darker side to the measures officials will go to protect police who murder innocent people. This birthday is about justice. 7 years defines completeness. Steven’s family deserves closure, answers & JUSTICE‼️ No family should be treated this way‼️

Join us in honoring him & demanding justice for a birthday vigil outside SPD‼️ We will never let them forget who he was‼️

@joegrits says loyalty comes with a PRICE. 💯

Going into trial, he’s willing to put himself on the line for Dyshan Best—and make sure his people are straight no matter what happens.

@joegrits said NO to the plea deal. 💯

Now it’s trial time. Past mistakes, social media posts, and even music are all part of the fight.

@joegrits ain’t rapping somebody else’s life. 💯

Court cases, family issues, street pressure—it all made its way into The State of Connecticut vs. Joseph Thompson.

Watch what you post… the internet got RECEIPTS. 👀

Tweets, captions, even music can end up in a courtroom. Your digital footprint might speak louder than you think.

@joegrits knew the system… and still saw the system fail. 💯

He used his education, experience, and past wins to fight back—but still asks the bigger question: when do the officers get held accountable?

Peace don’t always mean everything around you is quiet. 💯

@djmichellebee talks about finding real rest by being intentional—even in the middle of kids, responsibilities, and everyday chaos.
