Tonight the exhibition 𝘜𝘳𝘣𝘢𝘯 𝘉𝘭𝘶𝘦 - 𝘍𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘉𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘬𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘛𝘪𝘭𝘦𝘴 opens, where all the work we have been developing comes together: the tile tableau, hand-painted objects, and the mural.

Following the #InvestecCapeTownArtFair 2026, Namuso Gallery reflects with gratitude on a meaningful presentation of Tja Ling Hu’s curator-invited solo booth.

Tja Ling Hu is a Netherlands-born Dutch artist of Chinese heritage. Drawing on her Dutch-Chinese background, she creates works that transform personal narratives into universal reflections on belonging, identity, and transformation. Many of her works carry symbolic resonance, unfolding through cultural, psychological, and historical layers.

Presenting her work outside Europe for the first time marked an important moment for both the artist and the gallery. The conversations and responses during the fair opened new perspectives and affirmed the resonance of her themes across cultural contexts.

We thank everyone who visited Booth S9 and engaged with the work.

Super excited to be part of the curated SOLO section of @investeccapetownartfair, curated by @celine_seror titled 𝘌𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘏𝘶𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘺.

This is the first time my work is travelling outside of Europe with @namusogallery, which makes it extra special. Showing work in a non-Western context opens them to new perspectives beyond the cultural frameworks in which they have previously been seen. In the end, no matter geography, the work speaks to a shared human ground.

No horse in my studio (yet), so this moment is for saying goodbye to the snake.

This year asked me to grow into motherhood while continuing my art practice. The first painting I did while I was pregnant. If there’s a mother artist out there with a manual, please share 🙏

I’ll probably shed some more skin, but I’m ready to ride that Fire Horse too. by @tja_ling

ᴍᴀᴅᴇ ɪɴ ᴄʜɪɴᴀ ᴍᴀᴋᴇʀꜱ ᴡᴇᴇᴋᴇɴᴅ👩🏻‍🎨

I often use a seal alongside my signature to sign my work. The seal in this image was brought from China by my father. It is carved in stone and carries my initials in traditional seal script. It’s a beautiful script and has been used for centuries.

This Saturday you can carve your own!

I’m hosting a walk-in workshop at @wereldmuseum.amsterdam during ᴍᴀᴅᴇ ɪɴ ᴄʜɪɴᴀ ᴍᴀᴋᴇʀꜱ ᴡᴇᴇᴋᴇɴᴅ where you can carve your own Chinese zodiac sign from linoleum and mount it on wood. You’ll have your own personal seal to take home! 🈲

In a hospital, much is visible: bodies, measurements, systems.
What occupies me is what is less easily seen:
how relationships shift, how a person has to relearn how to carry themselves,
and how vulnerability can also become a place of connection.

I created this work through a commissioned project for @amsterdamumc for the @yougottabekidneyme department, allowing me to spend time with these questions and translate them into paint.
