Introducing the TJSound Studio!
.
I’m excited to finally share that I’ve been hard at work for the past several weeks to put together the foundation of a one-of-a-kind environment for ultimate creativity and music-making, while setting it up for the potential to continue growing into a truly special space!
.
Located in Bushwick, Brooklyn, The studio features a top of the line selection of drums, microphones, preamps, plugins, monitoring, and more. Everything one needs for producing the next creative masterpiece, in a cozy space to encourage inspiration and imagination.
.
The studio is now open to take on remote drum recordings and songs/albums that need mixing. I’m optimistic that I’ll be able to offer more expanded services as I continue to settle back in NYC, but for now I’m excited to welcome you to the TJSound Studio! by @tjsound

IT’S FINALLY OUT! I’m so excited for everyone to finally check out the new @modernhandclap album “We Won’t Die.” @sorryitsjustin, Taylor Peckham, and I have been hard at work putting together this album for over two years throughout the Beetlejuice 1st Nat’l Tour, and what a wild ride it’s been! We’re immensely proud of this album, and the amount of work/love/creativity/trial-and-error/kitchen sinks we put into this thing WHILE TOURING FULL TIME is mind-boggling. Thanks to everyone for cheering us on and supporting us throughout the process. Now ENJOY!!

“Go on to where you’re going, and let the world catch up to you. If you stop going where you’re going, the world will pass you by.” - Master Drummer Michael Carvin (@michaelcarvin_exp)

One of my favorite grooves: 16ths on the hat, right hand only. I personally find it to be one of the most difficult to play convincingly and make it really dance. Porcaro, Purdie, Gadson, Greene, all had killer right hands and could make these sorts of grooves come out like ice cream and cake. More shedding to do!

Broadway Hits Live in Taipei, Taiwan. Had a BLAST! Fantastic band, tremendous singers and dancers, and the crew was on top of everything from the jump. The whole experience exceeded expectations, and we were all well taken care of. Thanks to everyone who made it all happen, and thanks to @brauhala for the call!

Three Years. Tonight we close @beetlejuicebway with show # 1080, my personal show # 1049. I have no idea where to begin with describing how much this chapter with this show has meant in my life. These pictures don’t even begin to scratch the surface. This post won’t begin to scratch the surface. Shows, opportunities, experiences like this are often few and far between, and I’m beyond fortunate to have shared this beautiful chapter with so many wonderful people that have become my life-long friends. I’m very much looking forward to moving on to future experiences, but I’m very much not looking forward to saying goodbye to this one. Truly a bittersweet day, but we’ll be giving it everything we’ve got for our final show. Immensely grateful to @kriskukul, @kristynorter, @edmundperfect, @sford91, @philmartindrums, and others for whom I don’t have the text space to mention; you all know who you are. Hey guys, LOVE YOU GUYS 💚🖤 by @tjsound

I recently acquired this early 80’s Yamaha SD493 Brass piccolo snare after searching for YEARS to find one (due to my obsession with the snare sound on the @officialdaveweckl “Back To Basics” VHS tape growing up). MAN oh man when I tell you this drum brought me right back to when I was a kid just learning my love for the drums and music, I just couldn’t believe it. I try not to put so much importance on gear itself in the grand scheme of making music, but every once in a while something comes along that helps with the notion: “remember, this is fun!” That’s not to say I don’t have fun making music, but when it becomes the job/profession/career/vocation/living, I personally find that making music simply for the joy of it isn’t as naturally occurring as it once was when I was a kid. This drum came along and it immediately gave me that reminder. So much vibe, so much attitude, and its sound was instantly recognizable to me as THAT sound. Now, if you’ll indulge me with a bit of nonsensical noodling…
