The Many Faces Of Me, Tarshan 🫶🏽

A Few Facts:

Growing up in a housing project can force a multitude of creative ideas in those who dare to dream!

I discovered my talent for nails in 1991 at age 14. Adults and teens all over Richmond would come into my bedroom salon to get their nails done. Later that year, I started doing everything from cornrows to sew ins. Needless to say, I didn’t go outside much lol

My son was born in 1996. It was then I realized that doing nails was more than a hobby, it was my passion. Seven months later, I was granted an opportunity to work in a beauty salon, unlicensed doing nails.

In 1998, I finished nail school. After eleven years of procrastination, I finally sat for the state board exam and became a licensed nail technician

In 2012, I birthed my daughter who passed away on 4/24/13 four months postpartum 👼🏼 My father died three months later. Turning tragedy into triumph would unknowingly become my mission

In 2014, I opened my own nail salon, HER DESIGN STUDIO, a creative space for nails, paint parties and other gatherings.

In 2016, I won the final Steve Harvey Neighborhood Award for Best Nail Salon. I walked onto the stage in Vegas, graciously accepted the award. Hours later, I passed out in the hotel room and was hospitalized. After being discharged, I missed the flight back home.

In 2017, I created the first locally televised black women entrepreneur platform Spotlight On Her, a talk show style forum that aired on Friday nights for ten weeks. The focus was to allow women an opportunity to publicly speak about the businesses they’re passionate about on a LIVE platform. Speaking to a wider audience, answering the called in questions, highlighting their own experiences in business helped to promote and propel their businesses and brands to another dimension

2018-present….My timeline stretches farther than most people’s hairlines 🤣 and I’d love to share more so stay tuned! ❤️
