Heeeey heyy chocolate friends 👋✨❤️ It’s been almost 2 months since opening our Sik Fan Lah stall at Parkdale 💥🎊✨and truthfully it has been non stop for Papa T and the team😮‍💨😮‍💨, from coordinating for multiple markets, multiple costco runs a week, finding time to be with the fam and on the quest to finding life balance (it’s been over a 6 year quest and still haven’t found it 🤦🏻😅😭) but somehow I was able to take a moment to sit down while customers line up behind me 😅😅🥵 to chat with @kshap17 and share the journey since our last feature in @edibleottawa 3 years ago. Looking back, WHAT A VENTURE it has been 😱😭💕and I wanted to say a huge THANK YOU to Katie for being an amazing storyteller and capturing all the hard work that went into making TL Chocolates and Sik Fan Lah ❤️🇭🇰🙇🏻‍♂️✨

And to you all, chocolate friends ❤️❤️thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting us since 2020, through times that were a bit scarier, all the way to now. Papa T is humbled, blessed, and very tired… 🤣🤣sorry, I mean excited for what’s to come! I hope you all get a copy and give it a read ❤️❤️

One of Ottawa’s coolest new food spots just quietly opened inside Parkdale Market. 🥢

Created by Chef Tino of TL Chocolates, the new concept brings a tiny open kitchen dining experience to the market with a menu focused on rich Chinese comfort food and bold flavours. ✨

The setup feels more like a hidden micro restaurant than a typical market stall, with guests sitting just steps away from the cooking while dishes come out fresh from the kitchen. 🔥

Menu favourites already include grilled pork belly with scallion oil on rice, brisket with daikon, salt and pepper mushrooms, and stir fried long beans. 🌶️🍚

We’re more than halfway through summer and it has been nuts out here at Parkdale and all the markets 🙇🏻‍♂️☀️🙌 thank you so much for all the love ✨

📣🚨Big news though, our second pop up takeover is coming August 15th and this one is personal!
Meet Brandy, you’ve seen her banging out dishes, slinging the woks and running the stall! Honestly, Sik Fan Lah wouldn’t run without her 💕🙏

This time, she’s bringing Vietnamese food 🇻🇳🔥 from back home like BÒ LÁ LỐT (GRILLED BEEF IN BETEL LEAVES) and my fave BÁNH XÈO (VIETNAMESE CRISPY PANCAKES) to @parkdalepublicmarket

📍📣August 15th, from 11-6PM she’s taking the whole stall, so come hungry, come curious, and taste what Brandy has been dying to share with you!

@veganswhosnack is THIS FRIDAY JULY 31 5-9pm 😍😍 gotta hit @tl_chocolates early—they always have a BIG lineup for their Cantonese street food menu, and the vegan specials are @veganswhosnack EXCLUSIVE (peanut noodles?? Sweet and sour tofu?? 🤤). Tino’s booth is an incredible addition to the Parkdale Market structure this season—open Wednesday-Sundays 10-3 🔥

@veganswhosnack, c’est CE VENDREDI 31 JUILLET de 17 h à 21 h 😍😍 Il faut aller chez @tl_chocolates tôt : il y a toujours une GRANDE file d’attente pour leur menu de cuisine de rue cantonaise, et les spécialités végétaliennes sont des EXCLUSIVITÉS de @veganswhosnack (des nouilles aux cacahuètes ?? You guys have been truly amazing with all the love and support these past couple of years, from chocolate treats, to our Sik Fan Lah savoury menu, all the way to Kara’s cake slices @sleepybakergirl_cakes You guys have constantly showed up for our family business, and we can’t thank you enough 🥹🙇🏻‍♂️🙌

This Wednesday is gonna be a special one 🤗😱 It’s @parkdalepublicmarket 102nd birthday 🎂🎊, and to celebrate, I’m bringing Kara in for all kinds of cake… YEAH, YOU HEARD ME RIGHT!!!! NOT JUST SLICES, SHE’S GOING TO BE RIGHT THERE BY MY SIDE, CUTTING AND PLATTING CAKES ❤️❤️😍😍

So this Wednesday, we’re going all out! Its all hands on deck, with a table spread full of the cakes you’ve been craving:

1. Lemon sponge with blueberry compote, white chocolate buttercream
2. Cinnamon swirl sponge with biscoff and salted caramel

3. Chocolate sponge with dunkaroo icing and sprinkles

Every time we’ve dropped off cake slices before, you guys have gone bananas for them and Kara is always so anxious (in the best way) to hear how it went. So this Wednesday, come find us at the @parkdalepublicmarket stall and show this beautiful mama, all the love she deserves 💕💕💕

And because you’ve given us so much love year after year, I want to give some back!!! So the first 15 people at the stall starting at 5pm get a FREE meal on us! Whatever you want, a rice bowl, a cake slice, even a Bolo Bao sammie, It’s on us 🙌🔥❤️

Sooo make sure to come early, come hungry, and save room for cake, because there’s a whole table of it waiting, and it’s gonna be hard to choose. Good news tho, you can get more than one 🤭🍰🤤
