💗Corazón de la Misión 💗 So thankful to be a part of this portrait project along with other brilliant artists and change makers, representing the heartbeat of the Mission. Being a part of this community and Carnaval San Francisco, has shaped me into the dancer I am today. This community has cultivated so many artists and it continues to fill my heart with joy and life with meaning. Gracias Alexa, for bringing our photos to life! Community unveiling to come! Dance is my lifeline. It’s what feeds my soul. It’s fluid and ever-evolving. I am grateful for where it has taken me, who it’s brought to me, and how it’s shaped me. Carnaval is always a reminder of how important dance is to me. I am excited to see where it leads me next. Gracias📸 @lexmexart for always capturing my passion through your lens & creating foto magic! ✨ 🩷🧡: @blocogingabrasil 🧵🪡 : @r.soulatelie 👠: @brazilcarnivalshop by @tlovec.dances
Portrait of a mujer poderosa. Even though this is Latino Heritage month we celebrate our cultura everyday of the year. In the magical Mission district you see folxs celebrating the similarities + differences of our culturas with music + dance. It is beautiful just like @tlovec.dances . . . . . . . #latinoheritagemonth #latina #latinapower #latinaphotographer #sfportraitphotographer #portaitphotography #sanfrancisco #studiophotography #hispanicheritagemonth #amigahood #weallgrow #weallgrowlatina by @tlovec.dances
From the vibrant streets of Carnaval to the heart of my studio—Tara and Victorino embody the soul of San Francisco’s Carnaval. Longtime performers, musicians, and keepers of tradition, their energy is a force, their artistry a gift. I’ve had the honor of capturing them in motion for years, but having them in my studio felt like witnessing the essence of Carnaval itself: love, rhythm, and cultura in every frame. San Francisco’s Carnaval is more than a parade—it’s a living, breathing celebration of Latin American resilience, joy, and heritage. ¡Feliz Fat Tuesday! May the spirit of Carnaval always dance within us. Photography by me, @lexmexart by @tlovec.dances
