Inspired by one of my favorites @donrossmusic and his use of open keys, this one felt right for the time of year. Open F tuning, we’ll say the F is for Fall.

Ripping a 1979 Strat ($4,950) through a 1981 Twin Reverb with original tubes ($1,800). Clean, no reverb.

Thanks to the guys at Guitar Galleria in Chattanooga for the hospitality and letting me noodle for a bit. 🎸

Cool example of how different tunings affect the exact same riff played - for this example, “Just Got Paid” by ZZ Top, played in standard (video 1) and C-G-D-G-Bb-D (video 2)

Which do you like better? 👇

Post 2 of 2: Slipped into the iconic @normansrareguitars in Tarzana CA and played around with a few guitars. This one stuck out to me. A well-loved 1959 Martin D-18-E priced at $28,000 but played like a dream and still had that original soulful wood tone of 67 years aged. A moment I won’t soon forget. Thank you to the staff at Norm’s for the hospitality. I’ll be back.

(Post 1 of 2) I truly had one ‘bucket list’ item visiting Los Angeles, a short ride up to Tarzana, CA to visit @normansrareguitars and it did not disappoint. Such a friendly staff and great vibe. I had the honor of meeting @michaellemmo who has done their “Guitar of the Day” videos in recent years on YouTube and talked guitars with him for a bit, and played around with a truly special and rare 1959 Martin D-18-E (video to follow). Overall the experience was everything I hoped it would be and more. Until next time, LA. 🌴 🎸
